-- John 3:16-17
16 For God so Loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Jesus is my true Valentine
His heart was pierced for me
I cannot tell why He Loved me so well
But He proved it on Calvary.

Valentine's Day With Jesus

Jesus does not send perfume
To linger in the air
Instead He sends salvation, sweet
To show how much He cares.

He doesn’t bring me candy hearts
In boxes of delight
Instead He always lets me know
I’m precious in His sight.

He doesn’t pass out pretty cards
Trimmed in shades of red
Instead He gave His life for me
His precious blood was shed.

He doesn’t hand out fancy gifts
Like we would send to mother
Instead He sends a message clear
To always love each other.

He doesn’t give me teddy bears
That whimper, “please be mine”
Instead He gave His heart to me
I wear it all the time.

He doesn’t give me roses, pink
For all the world to see
Instead He gave eternal life
That’s good enough for me.

-- Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates His own Love toward us,
in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

+*+*+*+*+*+*+
++ We are the whosoever. You are the whosoever. God loved you and me so much that He gave His only son to come to earth and die on a cross to save us from our sins (John 3:16). Jesus loved you and me so much that He let Himself be put on a cross and die for our sins. Do you know Jesus as Savior and Lord of your life? It doesn't matter what you have done or what you are. Jesus loves you and wants to save you. Ask Him into your heart.

++ Say this Prayer to Receive Christ:
"Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner. I believe that You are the Son of God, that You came to earth and died on the cross to save me of my sins. Jesus, please come into my heart. Be Lord of my life. Help me to serve You the rest of my life. In Jesus' name Amen."

++ Congratulation! By praying this prayer, confessing your sins, and receiving Jesus Christ into your heart, God has given you the right to become His forgiven child. The Bible gives you this assurance: "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name" (John 1:12).
++ Happy Valentine's Day With Jesus! ++

-- 1 John 4:7-19 (God is Love)

7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

9 This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us.

13 We know that we live in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent His Son to be the Savior of the world.

15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. 17 In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like Him.

18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 19 We love because He first loved us.

God's Love wasn't put in your heart to stay;
Love isn't Love until you give it away.

"God's Valentine"

Valentine's Day is special,
With it's candy and Lovely flowers,
Dinner at a fancy restaurant,
And dancing til the wee hours.

When I think of this special day,
I think of God's warm Love,
And the blessings that He sends,
On the wings of angels from above.

We are all blessed in knowing,
That His great Love continues to grow,
And that His precious Redeemer
Will never curtail it's flow.

I wish you a Happy Valentine's Day,
Valentine's spread God's Love around,
And lifts the heavy hearts,
To our Creators holy ground.

Stop for a moment to thank Him,
For all of His promises to you,
Then give someone a warm hug,
And He will give one back to you,

Every day can be a Valentine,
To a stranger or a friend,
When we take the time to share,
God's Love that never ends.

We were created for a purpose,
To go and tell the Good News,
What's better than a Valentine,
With it's angelic views.

-- John 13:34-35
34 A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have Loved you, so you must Love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you Love one another.

-- Matthew 22:36-40
36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" ++ 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ (Deut. 6:5) 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. ++ 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ (Levi. 19:18) ++ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Christian's Love

-- 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, 13
[4] Love is patient,
love is kind.
It does not envy,
it does not boast,
it is not proud.
[5] It is not rude,
it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered,
it keeps no record of wrongs.
[6] Love does not delight in evil
but rejoices with the truth.
[7] It always protects,
always trusts,
always hopes,
always perseveres.
++ [8] Love never fails.
But where there are prophecies, they will cease;
where there are tongues, they will be stilled;
where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
++ [13] And now these three remain:
Faith, Hope and LOVE.
But the greatest of these is LOVE.

1 Corinthians 13 -- Note.1:
++ 1 Cointhians 13:4-7:
Our society confuses love and lust. Unlike lust, God's kind of love is directed outward toward others, not inward toward ourselves. It is utterly unselfish. This kind of love goes against our natural inclinations. It is impossible to have this love unless God helps us set aside our own natural desires so that we can love and not expect anything in return. Thus, the more we become like Christ, the more love we will show to others.

+*+*+*+*+*+*+

++ 1 Corinthians 13:4:
Because love is so important among the believers, Paul described that love in more detail. How does such love look when lived out in the lives of believers?

1- First of all, love is PATIENT, the opposite of being short-tempered. Patience (sometimes translated “long-suffering” or “slow to anger”) is an attribute of God (see Ex 34:6; Nu 14:18; Ro 2:4; 1Pe 3:20). In many places, God's people are called upon to be patient (see Ep 4:2; Col 3:12; 1Th 5:14;...). Patience is a fruit of the Spirit (Ga 5:22). Such love bears with certain annoyances or inconveniences without complaint. It does not lose its temper when provoked. It steadily perseveres.

2- Love is also KIND. Kindness takes the initiative in responding generously to others’ needs. The psalms and writings of the prophets say much about God's kindness (Ps 18:50; Isa 54:8; Je 9:24). Because believers have received kindness, they ought to act with kindness toward others. Such love is considerate and helpful to others. Kind love is gentle and mild, always ready to show compassion, especially to those in need.

3- Love is NOT JEALOUS. The jealous person desires what another person has. This seems to have been a particular problem in Corinth -- those with “lesser” gifts envied those with “greater” gifts. The seed of envy can lead to seething anger and hatred. Those who are too busy envying each other's gifts are unlikely to be using their own gifts in loving service to God and others. When there is love, believers will gladly use whatever gifts they have been given to work together for the advance of God's Kingdom. They will be glad that others have different gifts so that the entire job can get done.

4- Love is NOT BOASTFUL or PROUD. While some believers may have a problem with envy, those with the “greater” gifts might have a problem with boasting or pride. Again, it seems that this may have been a problem in Corinth. While some pride can be positive, this kind of pride takes credit for an undeserved gift. Gifted believers who are caught up in pride and boasting over their gifts are unable to serve. Without love, they may feel that by using their gifts, they are doing someone a favor, that others should be grateful to them, and that they are far superior.

++ 1 Corinthians 13:5

5- Love is NOT RUDE. This refers to actions that are improper, impolite, discourteous, or crude. Believers who use their gifts with love will be careful to act in a manner worthy of their calling before God. They will never humiliate others.

6- Love does not demand its own way (NOT SELF-SEEKING). Love looks out for others, seeks their best interests, willingly gives up its own for the sake of another. A person who wants his own way may use his gifts but not with a serving attitude or a desire to build the Kingdom. Instead, the gifts are only used if they can somehow benefit the self-seeking person. This is not God's way. Instead, because of love, the believers use their gifts to benefit others first, without “self” or selfish desires getting in the way.

7- Love is not irritable, meaning NOT EASILY ANGERED or Touchy. Such people let things get on their nerves. One believer, in the process of exercising his or her gifts, may irritate another believer. These “easily angered” believers may not like the style or manner in which these others exercise their gifts. This is not the way of love. When believers exercise their gifts in love, they will be able to give one another some latitude to follow God as they see fit. They will not let themselves be easily provoked over disagreements, but they will be able to always respond in a loving manner.

8- Love KEEP NO RECORD OF WRONG, when it has been wronged. Such people will remember every offense against them as though it were written in a book and tallied. These “wrongs” are not sins that need to be dealt with in the congregation (such as that described in chapter 5) but minor offenses or misunderstandings between believers. Those who keep record of these wrongs and personal injuries will harbor resentment against other believers. Love, however, makes allowances for people's foibles and flaws and willingly forgets when wrongs were done. This frees all believers to grow and mature in Christ and to grow in their ability to serve and use their gifts. When mistakes are made, love overlooks them and allows believers to continue to serve with the gifts God has given them. God does not keep a record of believers’ wrongs (2Co 5:19).

++ 1 Corinthians 13:6:

9- Love is NEVER GLAD ABOUT INJUSTICE but REJOICE IN THE TRUTH. When believers show love, they do not show superior morality by taking pleasure in another's fall. Love does not take pleasure in any kind of injustice. Instead, love does the exact opposite. Through their relationship with Jesus Christ, believers possess the one and only truth (Jn 14:6). Those who love should remain untainted by evil. Instead, they ought to always seek truth, desire that truth wins out, protect the truth, and proclaim the truth whenever possible.

++ 1 Corinthians 13:7:
After explaining what love does not do (13:4b-6), Paul listed four positive attributes of love.

10- Love never gives up, but willingly protects others (ALWAYS PROTECTS). The word in Greek means “cover” or “hide by covering.” This does not refer to hiding hurtful sin but to protecting someone from embarrassment, gossip, or any other such harm. When believers love one another, they refuse harmful gossip and protect one another from those who would try to inflict harm.

11- Love never loses faith (ALWAYS TRUSTS). It is willing to think the best of others. It does not mean that believers must be gullible, trusting everyone; instead, it means that they are willing to think the best as opposed to the worst of others. Love gives the benefit of the doubt. With real love, believers can deal with conflict lovingly. When everyone willingly thinks the best of everyone else, people are freed to be honest and open.

12- Love is ALWAYS HOPEFUL. Believers who love look forward, not backward. They seek for growth and maturity in the church, knowing that God is working in every person.

13- Love endures through every circumstance (ALWAYS PERSEVERES). Believers who love are active and steadfast in their faith. They hold on, no matter what difficulties they face. Hardship and pain do not stop love. When believers persevere, they face suffering within the body. They face persecution. They hang on when the going gets tough. They strive to save their marriages despite disappointment, to continue to trust God despite setbacks, and to continue to serve God despite fear or sorrow. When believers truly persevere, nothing can stop them.

++ 1 Corinthians 13:8:

++ LOVE NEVER FAILS. All the spiritual gifts will eventually disappear, but LOVE will last forever. On this earth, outside of heaven, everything is imperfect. No matter how much people may know, they know only a little. No matter how much prophecy is given, it still reveals little. Not until the arrival of God's Kingdom (the end) will everything be made perfect and complete. At that time, all the special gifts of the Spirit will disappear. Because gifts are given for the building up of the body of Christ, they will no longer be needed. The body will be complete, and God's Kingdom will have arrived.

Yet love will continue (13:8), because love is the very essence of God Himself. “God is love,” wrote John (1Jn 4:8,16). God's love caused Him to reach out to undeserving humanity and send a Savior. His love saved people and will bring them into His Kingdom to be with Him forever. The Kingdom rests on God's love.

++ 1 Corinthians 13:13

LOVE is a spiritual reality of a different kind, like hope and faith, and not to be considered as one of the spiritual gifts. In eternity, the gifts will drop away in significance, but faith, hope, and LOVE will endure.

-- Faith sometimes refers to a spiritual gift (12:9; 13:2) or to saving faith that God has forgiven sins. In this context, it refers to trust in the goodness and mercy of the Lord. Such trust will see believers through until they live face-to-face in God's presence.

-- Believers also Hope; they look forward to the arrival of God's promised Kingdom in its fullest form, knowing that God will deliver them in times of suffering.

-- But the greatest of these is LOVE. How is LOVE “the greatest"? Paul already had established that LOVE would abide forever (13:8). LOVE is the greatest because it is one quality of the Christian life that will be fully active both in the present and for eternity. Believers’ Faith in God will be realized when they see God face-to-face -- for where there is sight, Faith is no longer needed. Similarly, the believers’ Hope will be fully realized. LOVE will endure forever as those in the new heaven and new earth continue to LOVE God and His people.

-- Romans 8:38-39
38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the Love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1 Corinthians 13 -- Note.2:
What do you think LOVE is?
Do you think LOVE is feelings?
The Lord Tells Us What LOVE is in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

It is very hard for us to do any of this in the flesh BUT with the Lord's help we can. We can't say that we do all this either. It is not easy. We are not to give up and to keep going toward the goal. We need to keep trying. We are all growing in the Lord constantly. Our goal is to become more like Jesus.

++ Verse 4 -- "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud."

+ Patience and Enduring Long:

Now there is a bad word. We don't know too many people that have patience all the time. But as we grow in the Lord we get more and more. How? Through our trials. We have a choice on patience. When bad things happen, we can choose to go to the world, alcohol, drugs or other women/men, or we can choose to seek Lord. When we seek Him, He helps us either to go through whatever we are going through or He delivers us. This gives us patience.

Enduring Long is a tough one. You ask how long is long? You have to ask the Lord to show you when enough is enough. Sometimes this can be even years. You just have to ask the Lord to help you endure. It is hard, but just hang on to the Lord.

+ Kindness:

Are you kind to people? God's kind of love is kind. That doesn't mean kind to only your friends and people you know. That means kind to unlovely people -- the homeless or even people with bad tempers, people who are not courteous to you, different races and different countries. Even when our flesh can't love and be kind, with God's love in us we can.

+ Envious:

Do you envy someone? All of us do at one time or another. They have something we would like to have -- material things and even spiritual. We might wish that we had a car or house like someone. Spiritual envy - that we could be a Christian like a person who sings or a person who teaches. You are jealous of their talent. Here it tells us that love is not envious. That means you can love that person as an equal no matter what they have or what spiritual gifts they have. You love them with the love of Christ no matter what they have or what faults they may have.

+ Jealousy:

Some people think this is the same as envy. The dictionary says that envy is - discontent, or ill will at another's good fortune because one wishes it had been his; dislike for a person who has what one wants. Jealousy is -- fearful that a person one loves may love or prefer someone else. Jealousy is also an obsession. You can be jealous of what people have also. Jealousy is also being jealous of someone else's attention. They are spending more time with others or their job than with you. Sometimes there are reasons that make a person jealous -- like a man working too many hours and ignoring his family.

+ Love is not Boastful or vainglorious:

We are not supposed to go around boasting of what we have or what we do. We know sometimes that is hard because we are proud of something we have done. We just don't need to go around telling everyone about what we own. (Now there is a difference if you are bragging about having a new baby, We don't feel there is anything wrong with that). Its more or less a heart attitude.

+ Love does not Proud (Haughtily):

Haughtily means too proud of oneself and too scornful of others. This is the same as the first of the next verse. The Lord must have really thought this important to have Paul say it twice.

++ Verse 5 -- "It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs."

+ It is not Rude (unmannerly)

Are you rude to people? God's love is not rude. That means even when they are rude to you, you are not rude back to them. We know, our flesh gets in there and wants to be rude. Are you rude to drivers in front of you on the road? Are you rude and hateful to a waitress in a restaurant because the food is late. And more than likely it is not her fault. There is a polite way of doing things. Just ask the Lord to show you. One of the ten commandments is to love our neighbor as ourselves -- so this means when they are rude to us, we are to love them back. Treat them as you want others to treat you (the golden rule). Boy is that hard to do. Here again the more of Jesus in us, the easier it will be.

+ Does not act unbecomingly (Self-seeking)

Here are some of the meanings of unbecoming -- not appropriate, not fitting, not proper, unwelcome behavior, unsuitable. We think some examples of this might be skirts too high, clothes too tight, getting drunk. We are not judging. We are just stating what some examples might be according to meaning. ++ Love (God's love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking. + + This says everything. Do you always want your own way or do you think of others? DO you discuss what is to be done and come up with a compromise? Or are you selfish, not thinking of the other person?

+ It is not touchy or fretful or resentful (easily angered).

Do you get your feelings hurt easy? That is being touchy. Or you get grumpy when someone says something to you. That is touchy. Fretful -- this is to be unhappy, discontented, or worried. We are not to be these things when we do all in love. We are to put our trust in the Lord. Resentful -- Do you resent others? Maybe someone got that job you wanted, that promotion. There are a lot of reasons we can be resentful. When we have God's love in us, we are not to be resentful.

+ it keeps no record of wrongs. (It takes no account of the evil done to it; it pays no attention to a suffered wrong).

WOW!! That is hard. We know that we have problems with that one sometimes. It is hard not to hurt when someone does things to us. We are to pay no attention to it - as if it hadn't happened. That is hard. We just have to keep working on it. Ask the Lord to help us not to do that. We are suppose to forgive that person so God can work in their life. And we pray for them. Ask the Lord to heal the hurts.

++ Verse 6 -- "Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth."

+ It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness

That means that we are not glad when something happens to someone else even our opponents. We are not glad when people do unrighteous things. We are to pray.

+ We are to rejoice when right and truth prevail.

We are to be happy when right things happen and when truth prevails over lying and deception. That also means when you are going through a tough time and something good happens to a friend or someone you know, you are to rejoice with them.

++ Verse 7 -- "It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

+ Always protects. Love bears up under anything and everything that comes

No matter what happens in our marriages, our relationships to others, love bears up under everything. I believe we need to seek God as how to handle this because there are situations in which God would not want us to stay.

+ Always trusts. It is ever ready to believe the best of every person

When we hear or read things about other people, we are to believe the best of every person until we know differently.

+ Always hopes. Its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances

I like this one. When we love someone and no matter what they are doing that is wrong, we can hope. It says hope is fadeless. Never give up hope. And never give up faith.

+ Always perseveres. It endures everything (without weakening)

This is really hard.When we have Jesus and keep our eyes on Jesus and stay focused on Him and His Word, we can be strong. We need to stay single-minded (Heb.12:2; James 1:6).

++ Verse 8 -- Love never fails... (Never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end.).

If we do anything in love, it cannot fail. God's word says it. We have to believe it and trust God. This is the way we are to love each other on earth. But God had a much deeper love for us.

"The Power of Love"

Someone cares and always will,
The world forgets but God loves you still,
You cannot go beyond His Love
No matter what you're guilty of

For God forgives until the end,
He is your faithful, loyal friend,
There is no shelter any place
That can escape His watchful eye,

For on the earth and in the sky
HE'S EVER PRESENT and ALWAYS THERE
To take you in His tender care
And bind the wounds and mend the breaks

When all the world around forsakes . . .
SOMEONE CARES and LOVES YOU STILL
And GOD is THE SOMEONE who always will.

And His commandments are not burdensome. 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world -- our faith.

A Valentine Is Nothing Like

A Valentine is nothing like
A chocolate or a rose.
For in a week these shall be gone,
But Valentines remain.
If love were always sweet to tongue
Or fragrant to the nose,
Each day would be like Valentine's,
And we would go insane.

A Valentine just hangs around
Waiting to be kissed
Long after special days have passed
And every days are here.

So one is wise to choose one well
And chocolates to resist.
For in the midst of mania
It's nice to have one near.

Hindsight

I said to you, "Oh, please be mine;
Be mine forever, Valentine."
I must have seemed like quite a fool,
Although I thought I was being cool.

I swore that we would never part,
As I put my hand upon my heart.
Had I been thinking with my head,
I'd probably have fled instead.

Timeless Valentine

As time goes by from year to year,
One thing is surely true, my dear;
Though decades come and decades go,
Just seeing you sets me aglow.

Time shifts my body; I start to sag,
When I pass a mirror, it can make me gag.
My joints all ache; I can hardly move;
Still a smile from you, and I’m in the groove.

Getting older can be a pain,
But with you along, I can’t complain.
Despite the things that we go through,
I know I’ll never stop loving you.

Your loving heart turns life to play,
As we laugh at time from day to day.
So I write this poem, and I’ll hang my sign,
Saying, "Always Be My Valentine."
