Sept.15.00: Light For The Day - "Prayers God Hears"
-- Colossians 3:23 (RSV)
"Whatever your task, work heartily,
as serving the Lord and not men."
"He lam viec gi, hay het long lam,
nhu lam cho Chua, cho khong phai lam cho nguoi ta."

"Prayers God Hears"
The spoken, reverent words men say
Are not the one and only way
To worship the great God of Love
Or send our prayers to Him above.
Feeding cattle, growing grain
Plowing fields for fertile rain
All are sending prayers to God
From one who works the earthly sod.
The rhyming words a poet writes
The artist's painting nature's sites
Are offerings of silent prayer
As they express themselves with flair.
A scalpel in a skillful hand
Or wires strung across the land
The plumber who recycles waste
God thinks of none as that abased.
The mother's touch on fevered brow
The kindly teacher who tells 'how'
The maid who scrubs the dirty sink
All talents are to make us think.
Workers on a building site
A flower garden, planted right
A home, with happy atmosphere
All treasures are, that God holds dear.
In honest work one worships Christ.
Each bears its mark of sacrifice.
With more than uttered, spoken word
The prayers of men, to God are heard.

-- Ephesians 6:7 (RSV)
"Rendering service with a good will
as to the Lord and not to men,."
