Mar.22.01: Light For The Day - "The Spiritual Law Of Life" -- Romans 7:14 (RSV) "We know that the law is spiritual;  but I am carnal, sold under sin." ----------------- You have made for us this law: that the effect of what  comes to us from without should depend on what we  are like You within. Thus no external misfortune will overcome us if we  restrain Your grace inside us.  No public disgrace will overhelm us if You help us  to resist our own disgraceful desires. No outward disturbance will daunt us if our intentions  are pure and love. No enemy can rob us of our peace if our hearts  are fixed on You. No one can do more harm to us than we do to  ourselves; and as soon as the Holy Spirit masters us, everything else loses its power to hurt us. For this spiritual law, we give You thanks. -- TLS ------------------- -- Romans 7:21-25 (NLT) "It seems to be a fact of life that when I want to do  what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong.  22 I love God’s law with all my heart.  23 But there is another law at work within me that  is at war with my mind. This law wins the fight and  makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me.  24 Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will  free me from this life that is dominated by sin? 25Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord.  So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey  God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am  a slave to sin."
