Oct.04.02: Light For The Day - "Mystery of Prayer"

-- James 5:13 (NIVUS)
"Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray.
Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise."

--------------
The reason for human intercession in the divine plan has not
been wholly revealed. The repeated statements of Scripture that
it is a necessary link in the chain that carries the divine energy
into the impotent souls of men, in addition to its actual
achievement as seen in the world, must be the sufficient
evidence of the imperative need for the prayer in connection
with the purpose of God. Thus in the Scriptures and in
experience it is revealed that God has honored man with
an exalted place of cooperation and partnership with Himself
in His great projects of human transformation.

-- Lewis Sperry Chafer

Face it, God could do whatever He wants, whenever He wants.
Why did He even brother with creating prayer?
For one important reason -- He wants to use us in fulfilling His plan.
We become co laborers with God as we unite with Him in prayer.
This is one of the highest privileges of the believer.
And yet, prayer is still a great mystery.
But a mystery spawned from God's love.

Prayer is the most wonderful act in the spiritual realm
as well as a most mysterious affair.
-- Watchman Nee

----------
-- Matthew 21:22 (NIVUS)
"If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."

-- 1 John 5:14,15 (NIVUS)
"This is the confidence we have in approaching God:
that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
15 And if we know that He hears us— whatever we ask—
we know that we have what we asked of Him."

-- Romans 8:26 (NIVUS)
"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.
We do not know what we ought to pray for,
but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans
that words cannot express."
