Oct.31.02: Light For The Day - "God's Watchful Care"
-- Psalms 121:7,8
"The LORD will keep you from all evil.
He will watch over your life;
8 The LORD will watch over your coming
and going both now and forevermore"
---------------
At times we experience the sweetness of God's
nearness and at other times the frightening
loneliness of His distance. The Lord hasn't
changed locations, but we might have become
caught up in our own agendas and forgotten
His presence and availability.
Other times the Lord will be silently still
(scary) for holy purposes (awesome)
we don't understand (frustrating).
Perhaps we need to rest from our pursuit of
the Almighty and allow Him to reveal Himself
to us. He is in our prayers guiding our words,
He is in our songs as we worship Him,
and He is filling our mouths when we comfort
a friend or speak wisdom to someone who needs hope.
Sometimes we can search so hard for the miraculous,
we miss the obvious reality of His ever present
nearness. Count your blessings. He is in them, too.
When our hearts are tenderly responsive and it
suits His greater plan, then the Lord will lift
the thin veil that separates us. We will be
stunned to realize that He has been closer than
our own breath all along.

-- Psalm 23:
"The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for
his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of
the shadow of death, I will fear no evil,
for you are with me; your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence
of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life, and I will dwell
in the house of the LORD forever."
