June.12.03: Light For The Day - "Father's Day"

-- Exodus 20:12 (NIVUS)
"Honor your father and your mother,
so that you may live long in the land the LORD
your God is giving you."

---------------------------------------
"What Makes a Dad?"

God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,

The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagles flight,

The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,

The God combined these qualities,
And then there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it- - Dad.

-------------------------------------------
-- Psalm 34:11
"Come, my children, and listen to me,
and I will teach you the fear of the LORD."

-------------------------------------------
"Teach me daddy"

Teach me daddy
About What I should Know
Team me about the love of God
Teach me how to sow
Because one day to the Father I will go.

Teach me daddy of the love of the Father
Teach me daddy so that I may not falter
Teach me daddy with love and kindness
Tell me of how Jesus can do away with our blindness

Teach me daddy how to praise the Lord above
Do everything you do daddy with love
Let me not harden my heart to you oh daddy
For if I do, Will I envision the Father above as only human do?

Teach me daddy through your example
For one day our time will not be so ample
The Holy Spirit will be our guide and you the light
As we prepare to descend to Heaven on our final ride,
never again a need to fight.

------------------------------------
-- Ephesians 6:4 (KJV)
"And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath:
but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord."

-----------------------------------
"My Dad!"

As I flow through each day of my life
I remember my childhood and the times with my dad.
He was peaceful and calm, and took things in stride...
His life was simple and clear... not full of fads.

I'm grateful for him... and the strength he gave me.
I'm his daughter for sure, and happy to be,
The daughter of a man who loved me completely.
Though he never said so his love I do feel.

--------------------------------------
-- John 15:9,10 (NIVUS)
"9 "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you.
Now remain in my love.
10 If you obey my commands, you will remain in My love,
just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain
in His love."

---------------------------------------------
"A Special Father"

A special father, in God’s eyes,
is one who lives to see...
that all his children love the Lord,
and act accordingly.

It doesn't matter who he is,
or the money that he’s earned...
God cares about a father’s heart,
and the godly things he’s learned.

So, Fathers, teach your children,
to find joy in simple things...
in reverence to God’s blessings
and the happiness He brings.

And when they have their children,
they’ll raise them just like you...
to love and praise God daily,
the way you taught them to.

-- Jill Lemming.

---------------------------------------------------
- Proverb 23:22 (NIVUS)
"Listen to your father, who gave you life,
and do not despise your mother when she is old.
-----------------------------------------------------------
"Dad"

Many poems have been written to explain,
How a mother's love can soothe the pain.
But little has been said about a Father's concern,
So..now...I think it must be his turn.

A Father's love for his off-spring,
Is just like that of a solid gold ring.
No matter what, it is unending,
Never breaking; though..sometimes bending.

His love is as strong as a mother's; although...
Due to his personality, it sometimes doesn't show.
There is no question of how strong..
Or of its lasting...however long.

So...no matter if his child is good or bad,
There is no Love stronger, than that of a DAD.

"My Dad"

When I was just a tiny kid,
Do you remember when,
The time you kissed my bruises,
Or cleaned my soiled chin?

You scrambled for the balls I hit,
(Short-winded more than not,)
Yet, every time we'd play a game,
You praised the "outs" I caught.

It seems like only yesterday,
You wiped away my tears,
And late at night I called your name,
To chase away my fears.

Though time has changed your handsome grip,
Your hair is snowy white,
You gait's a little slower now,
Thick glasses help your sight.

Oh, do I thirst for years gone by,
To be that growing lad,
Re-living all of the memories,
Of growing with my dad.

To Dad:

"For All The Times I Never Said I Love You"

So often it may seem as if i have taken you for
granted, that i never noticed all that you did for me
or the sacrifices you made for my benefit.
But I did notice. I may not have said anything at
the time, and I am sure that many times I really
didn't appreciate you.

But now that I have grown up, I realize that
everything you did was because you loved me and
wanted the best for me. I can see now that doing
so much for me meant giving up a lot for yourself.

And as I look around, I see many parents who take
care of themselves first and their children second.
In the eyes of those children, I can see a hurt that
I never knew. You have given me more than I ever
deserved.

At a time when so many people are blaming their
parents for what is wrong with them, I want to thank
you for all that is good in me. you instilled it in me
with each hug,

scolding, understanding word, punishment, and "I love you".
I just wanted to tell you that i an forever
grateful, and I love you very much.

Happy Father's Day
