Aug.08.03: Light For The Day - "When I say... I am a Christian"

** Christians are not perfect, just forgiven **

-- 1 John 1:9 (NKJV)
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

-------------------
When I say... I am a Christian
I'm shouting I'm saved."
And I'm whispering I get Lost,"
That is why I chose this way.

When I say... I am a Christian
I speak of this with pride.
And I'm confessing that I stumble and
need someone to be my guide.

When I say ... I am a Christian
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I am weak and
pray for strength to carry on.

When I say ... I am a Christian
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed and
cannot ever pay the debt.

When I say... I am a Christian
I'm not claiming to be perfect.
My flaws are too visible but
God believes I'm worth it.

When I say... I am a Christian
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
which is why I seek His name.

When I say... I am a Christian
I do not wish to judge.
I have no authority
I only know I'm loved.

Don't walk in front of me,
I may not follow.
Don't walk behind me,
I may not lead.
Just walk beside me and be my friend.

** Christian = Christ + i + am + nobody **
----------
-- 1 John 1:5-10 (NKJV)
"5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

-- Ephesian 4:1-7 (NIVUS)
1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.
2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
4 There is one body and one Spirit— just as you were called to one hope when you were called—
5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
7 But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.
