| Nov.25.03: Light For The Day - "The Fruit of the Spirit" -- Galatians 5:22,23 "22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." ------------ We should seek to produce the fruit of the Spirit in our lives. Or to put it more accurately, we should allow the Holy Spirit to produce His fruit in our lives. You say, "I am powerless to produce such fruit. You don't know how weak and self-centered I am. It would be utterly impossible for me to do so!" With that I agree! That is, we can't produce this fruit in our own strength. When the Spirit of God dwells in us and has control of our lives. He will produce that fruit. Our responsibility is to cultivate the soil of our hearts through sincere devotion and surrender, so He might find favorable ground to produce His fruit. I might have a fruit tree in my yard, but if the soil isn't enriched and the bugs carefully destroyed, it will not yield a full crop. What keeps the Holy spirit from producing His fruit in your life! -- Billy Graham ------------------ -- John 4:24 "God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth." -- Romans 8:26,27 "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will. -- 1 Corinthians 2:9-12 "9 However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him" 10 but God has revealed it to us by His Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us." |
