July.14.04: Light for the Day - "Trust" -- Proverbs 3:5,6 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. {Or <will direct your paths>} --------------- What do you do when your heart is tugging you one way, but you know God is telling you to go in exactly the opposite direction? Trust God. The guidelines He has given you in the Bible do not change, no matter what the circumstances. What He says is always true, always right, and always wise. Your heart, however well-intentioned, can be swayed by emotion, public opinion, even by things like exhaustion, even by things like exhaustion, public opinion, even by things like exhaustion of pride. It’s not a trustworthy compass when it comes to leading you in the right direction. When a decision comes down to following your heart or following God, you don’t need to ask for directions. There’s only one right way to go. -- G’s DA ------------- All I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen. -- Ralph Waldo Emerson I have held many things in my hands, and I have lost them all; but whatever I have placed in God's hands, that I still possess. -- Corrie Ten Boom Trust the past to God's mercy, the present to God's love and the future to God's providence. -- Augustine of Hippo Trust in God and you are never to be confounded in time or in eternity. -- Dwight L. Moody ------------- -- Psalms 62:8 Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge -- Isaiah 26:4 Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal. -- Psalms 143:8 Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You. Show me the way I should go, for toYou I lift up my soul. -- John 14:1 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in Me. -- Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. -- Psalms 37:3-8 3 Trust in the LORD and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. 4 Take delight in the LORD, and He will give you your heart’s desires. 5 Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust Him, and He will help you. 6 He will make your innocence as clear as the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun. 7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. 8 Stop your anger! Turn from your rage! Do not envy others—it only leads to harm. -- Jeremiah 17:7,8 7 "But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in Him. 8 He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." -- Psalms 23 1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. 3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever. |
