"Fingerprints"

Who can know the touch of God,
Save the one whom God has touched?
Who can know the joy of forgiveness,
Save the one who is forgiven much?

For a thousand different faces,
Yet the Spirit remains the same -
Guided by One Shepherd,
Who calls us each by name.

Test the spirits, to know them,
For not all are the Holy kind -
Judge them righteously in your heart;
Don't filter it through your mind.

For one can truly discern God's touch
By learning God's intent -
For everywhere His Hand has been,
He leaves a "fingerprint".

A fingerprint of mercy,
Of kindness, joy and grace -
Removing the stain that sin has left,
And putting these in its place;

Meekness, goodness, self control -
Repentance then ensues -
A life truly touched by the Hand of God
Vividly displays these hues;

Forgiveness, faith and patience,
All markings of the One Above -
Peace that passes all understanding -
and the greatest of all is love!

For Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace
Who's thoughts on Thee are spent -
Oh, seek to stay forever in prayer
And be a living fingerprint!
