Aug.09.04: Light for the Day - "Nature"
-- Psalm 19:1,2
1 The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.

To better understand the heart of an artist, you need to study his work. Examine his brush strokes. Note his favorite color palette. Consider his subject matter. Sit and enjoy the beauty of his creation.
God is the ultimate Artist. His creation are so amazing that a lifetime is not long enough to fully appreciate them. However, you can understand God's heart a little better by studying His work. Even the simplest flower shows His creativity, attention to detail, organizational skills, and love of beauty.
Wherever you are right now, take a quick peek outside. What does what you see teach you about the God you cannot see? Take a moment to tell God what you think about His handiwork.

The more I study nature, the more I am amazed at the creator.
-- Louis Pasteur
I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station through which God speaks to us every minute, if we will only tune in.

-- Genesis 1:1,31; 2:1-3
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
............
31 Then God looked over all He had made,
and He saw that it was excellent in every way.
This all happened on the sixth day.
1 So the creation of the heavens and the earth
and everything in them was completed.
2 On the seventh day, having finished His task,
God rested from all His work.
3 And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy,
because it was the day when He rested from His work of creation.
-- Psalm 8:3-9
3 When I look at the night sky and see the work of Your fingers -
the moon and the stars You have set in place.
4 what are mortals that You should think of us,
mere humans that You should care for us?
5 For You made us only a little lower than God,
and You crowned us with glory and honor.
6 You put us in charge of everything You made,
giving us authority over all things
7 the sheep and the cattle and all the wild animals,
8 the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea,
and everything that swims the ocean currents.
9 O LORD, our Lord, the majesty of Your Name fills the earth!
-- Psalm 19:1-14
1 The heavens tell of the glory of God.
The skies display His marvelous craftsmanship.
2 Day after day they continue to speak;
night after night they make Him known.
3 They speak without a sound or a word;
their voice is silent in the skies;
4 yet their message has gone out to all the earth,
and their words to all the world.
The sun lives in the heavens where God placed it.
5 It bursts forth like a radiant bridegroom after his wedding.
It rejoices like a great athlete eager to run the race.
6 The sun rises at one end of the heavens
and follows its course to the other end.
Nothing can hide from its heat.
7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul.
The decrees of the LORD are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
8 The commandments of the LORD are right,
bringing joy to the heart.
The commands of the LORD are clear,
giving insight to life.
9 Reverence for the LORD is pure, lasting forever.
The laws of the LORD are true;
each one is fair.
10 They are more desirable than gold,
even the finest gold.
They are sweeter than honey,
even honey dripping from the comb.
11 They are a warning to those who hear them;
there is great reward for those who obey them.
12 How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart?
Cleanse me from these hidden faults.
13 Keep me from deliberate sins!
Don’t let them control me.
Then I will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin.
14 May the words of my mouth
and the thoughts of my heart be pleasing to You,
O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

-- John 1:1-4
1 In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
2 He was with God in the beginning.
3 Through Him all things were made;
without Him nothing was made that has been made.
4 In Him was life, and that life was the light of men.
-- Proverbs 3:19
The LORD by wisdom founded the earth;
By understanding He established the heavens.
-- Hebrews 1:10
And: "You, LORD, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands.
-- Romans 1:20
From the time the world was created,
people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made.
They can clearly see His invisible qualities -
His eternal power and divine nature.
So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God.
-- Psalms 148:4,5
4 Praise Him, you heavens of heavens,
And you waters above the heavens!
5 Let them praise the name of the LORD,
For He commanded and they were created.
