Oct.29.04: Light for the Day - "Praise the
LORD"
-- Psalm 66:20 Praise be
to God, Who has not rejected my prayers Or withheld
His love from me!
----------------- You can do more than pray
after you've prayed, but you can't not do more than pray until you've
prayed. -- John Bunyan
Turn to God with short but frequent
outpourings of your heart; Admire His graciousness; Ask for His
help; Cast yourself in spirit at the foot of His cross; Adore His
goodness; Be thankful to Him for your salvation; Give Him your whole
soul a thousand times a day. -- Francis D. Sales
Everyday we
need to whisper in His ear, as though we had never done so before, our
heart's love for Him. -- Norman B.

------------------------ -- Isaiah
40:28-31 28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the
everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow
tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives
strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even
youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 But those who hope in the LORD will renew their
strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; They will
run and not grow weary, They will walk and not be
faint.
-------------------------
-- Psalm 103:2-5
2 Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies,
5 Who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
--------------------------
-- Psalm 106:1-5
1 Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD,
for He is good; His love endures forever.
2 Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the LORD or
fully declare His praise?
3 Blessed are they who maintain justice, who constantly do what is right.
4 Remember me, O LORD, when You show favor to Your people,
come to my aid when You save them,
5 that I may enjoy the prosperity of Your chosen ones,
that I may share in the joy of Your nation and
join Your inheritance in giving praise.
-------------------
-- Psalm 111
1 Praise the LORD!
I will praise the LORD with my whole heart,
In the assembly of the upright and in the congregation.
2 The works of the LORD are great,
Studied by all who have pleasure in them.
3 His work is honorable and glorious,
And His righteousness endures forever.
4 He has made His wonderful works to be remembered;
The LORD is gracious and full of compassion.
5 He has given food to those who fear Him;
He will ever be mindful of His covenant.
6 He has declared to His people the power of His works,
In giving them the heritage of the nations.
7 The works of His hands are verity and justice;
All His precepts are sure.
8 They stand fast forever and ever,
And are done in truth and uprightness.
9 He has sent redemption to His people;
He has commanded His covenant forever:
Holy and awesome is His name.
10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom;
A good understanding have all those who do His commandments.
His praise endures forever.

Psalm 20 1 For the director of music. A psalm of
David. May the LORD answer you when you are in distress;
May the name of the God of Jacob protect you. 2 May He send you help
from the sanctuary and
grant you support from Zion. 3 May He remember
all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings. 4 May He give you the desire of your
heart and make all your plans succeed. 5 We
will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in
the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your
requests. 6 Now I know that the LORD saves His anointed;
He answers him
from His holy heaven with the saving power of His right hand. 7 Some
trust in chariots and some in horses, But we trust in the name of
the LORD our God. 8 They are brought to their knees and
fall, but we rise up and stand firm. 9 O LORD, save the king!
Answer us when we call!
-------------------------- -- Psalm 34 1 I will bless the
LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my
mouth. 2 My soul shall make its boast in the LORD; The humble
shall hear of it and be glad. 3 Oh, magnify the LORD with
me, And let us exalt His name together. 4 I sought the LORD,
and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears. 5 They
looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not
ashamed. 6 This poor man cried out, and the LORD heard
him, And saved him out of all his troubles. 7 The angel
of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers
them. 8 Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is
the man who trusts in Him! 9 Oh, fear the LORD, you His
saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. 10 The young
lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall
not lack any good thing. 11 Come, you
children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the
LORD.
12 Who is the man who desires life,
And loves many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep your tongue from evil,
And your lips from speaking deceit.
14 Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous,
And His ears are open to their cry.
16 The face of the LORD is against those who do evil,
To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears,
And delivers them out of all their troubles.
18 The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart,
And saves such as have a contrite spirit.
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the LORD delivers him out of them all.
20 He guards all his bones; Not one of them is broken.
21 Evil shall slay the wicked,
And those who hate the righteous shall be condemned. 22 The LORD redeems
the soul of His servants, And none of those who trust in
Him shall be
condemned.
------------------------- -- Psalm 16 1 Preserve me, O
God, for in You I put my trust. 2 O my soul, you have said to the
LORD, "You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from
You." 3 As for the saints who are on the earth, "They
are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight." 4 Their sorrows
shall be multiplied who hasten after other gods; Their drink
offerings of blood I will not offer, Nor take up their names on
my lips. 5 O LORD, You are the portion of my inheritance and my
cup; You maintain my lot. 6 The lines have fallen to me in
pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance. 7 I will bless the LORD who has given me
counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons. 8 I
have set the LORD always before me; Because He is at my right
hand I shall not be moved. 9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory
rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope. 10 For You will not
leave my soul in Sheol (Hell, grave), Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see
corruption. 11 You will show me the path of life; In Your
presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures
forevermore.
---------------------------
-- Psalm 148
1 Praise the LORD!
Praise the LORD from the heavens;
Praise Him in the heights!
2 Praise Him, all His angels;
Praise Him, all His hosts!
3 Praise Him, sun and moon;
Praise Him, all you stars of light!
4 Praise Him, you heavens of heavens,
And you waters above the heavens!
5 Let them praise the name of the LORD,
For He commanded and they were created.
6 He also established them forever and ever;
He made a decree which shall not pass away.
7 Praise the LORD from the earth,
You great sea creatures and all the depths;
8 Fire and hail, snow and clouds;
Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;
9 Mountains and all hills;
Fruitful trees and all cedars;
10 Beasts and all cattle;
Creeping things and flying fowl;
11 Kings of the earth and all peoples;
Princes and all judges of the earth;
12 Both young men and maidens;
Old men and children.
13 Let them praise the name of the LORD,
For His name alone is exalted;
His glory is above the earth and heaven.
14 And He has exalted the horn of His people,
The praise of all His saints—Of the children of Israel,
A people near to Him. Praise the LORD!
---------------------------- -- Psalm 23 1 The LORD is my
shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me to lie down in green
pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. 3 He restores
my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For
His name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow
of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with
me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a
table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my
head with oil; My cup runs over. 6 Surely goodness and
mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I
will dwell in the house of the LORD
Forever.
--------------------------- -- Psalms 145:18 The
LORD is near to all who call on Him, To all who call on Him in
truth.
-- Isaiah
55:6 Seek the LORD while He may be
found; Call on Him while He is
near.
