Mar.25.05: Light for the Day - "Red Moon Rising"

-- John 3:16
16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.

-- 1 Timothy 1:15, 16
15  This is a true saying, and everyone should believe it: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—and I was the worst of them all.
16 But that is why God had mercy on me, so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of His great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in Him and receive eternal life.

-- Hebrews 12:2
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, Who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

"Red Moon Rising"

Like a fire to burn away the night
Red moon rising as sun-lights fade;
Evening tide and light grows dim,
This scarlet orb all others jade.

A symbol of tomorrow’s dawn?
No, just a spectacle to show
God’s wondrous gifts to man.
His plans design to let us know

Almighty grace and fortune too.
As this portentous vision bright
Slips quiet though the blackened sky
And tells the knowing of the night

When all was dark and barren ‘fore
There was a man, there was an Eve,
There was a night, there was a day,
And was a serpent to deceive.

This red moon full of mystery sent
As a message holy came to man
On Easter’s nearing, crosses bearing,
Near the hillside marked the land

From bright sun soon came the dark.
Silhouettes against a sullen sky
Stood three, His bloodied palms profound
Made true His promise - He would die.

But rise He would, third morning break
Believers would acknowledge soon.
So, why do we seem to marvel at
The rising of a blood red moon?

-- Romans 5:8
But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

-- 1 John 4:9,10
9  God showed how much He loved us by sending His only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through Him.
10 This is real love. It is not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

-- 2 Corinthians 5:19-21
19  For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. This is the wonderful message He has given us to tell others.
20  We are Christ’s ambassadors, and God is using us to speak to you. We urge you, as though Christ Himself were here pleading with you, "Be reconciled to God!"
21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

-- Romans 8:32
Since God did not spare even His own Son but gave Him up for us all, won’t God, who gave us Christ, also give us everything else?

-- Psalms 130:6
"My soul waits for the LORD more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning."

-- Psalm 119:147
"I rise before dawn and cry for help;
I have put my hope in Your word."
