May.06.05: Lftd - "Mother's Day Prayer"

-- Exodus 20:12
"Honor your father and your mother,
so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you."

"Mother's Day Prayer"

Lord Jesus,

You have known a mother's love
And tender care, and You will hear, while for our mothers most dear,
We offer this Mother's Day prayer.

Protect the lives, we pray, of those who have given us the gift of life
May our mothers know from day to day
The deepening glow of joy that comes from Your presence.
We cannot pay our debts for all the love that we have received;
but, You, Lord, will not forget their due reward
Bless our mothers both on earth and in heaven.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

AMEN

-- Psalms 71:6
Yes, You have been with me from birth;
from my mother’s womb You have cared for me.
No wonder I am always praising You!

"A Child's Angel"

Once upon a time, there was a child ready to be born.
So, one day he asked God:

They tell me You are sending me to earth tomorrow,
but how am I going to live there being so small and
helpless?

God: Among the many angels, I chose one especially
for you. She will be waiting for you and will take care
of you.

Child: But tell me, here in Heaven, I don't do
anything else but sing and smile, and that's enough
for me to be happy. Will I be happy there?

God: Your angel will sing for you and will also smile
for you every day. And you will feel your angel's
love and be happy.

Child: And how am I going to be able to understand
when people talk to me, if I don't know the language
that men talk?

God: Your angel will tell you the most beautiful
and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much
patience and care, your angel will teach you
how to speak.

Child: And what am I going to do when I want
to talk to you?

God: Your angel will place your hands together
and will teach you how to pray.

Child: I've heard that on earth there are bad
people. Who will protect me?

God: Your angel will defend you even if it means
risking her own life.

Child: But I will always be sad because I will
not see You anymore.

God: Your angel will always talk to you about
Me and will teach you the way to come back
to Me, even though I will always be next to you.

+ At that moment, there was much peace in
Heaven, but voices from earth could already
be heard, and the child in a hurry asked softly:

Oh God, if I am about to leave now,
please tell me my angel's name.

God: Your angel's name is of no importance.
You will call your

Angel .... Mommy.

-- Proverbs 23:25
"Let your father and mother be glad,
let her who bore you rejoice."

"Mother"

She has been God's laborer to keep me safe and sound
She has kept me in sight, calmed my fears in the night
She has argued and fought,
She has paid and she's bought.

She's been sick and she's been feeble
Never mean, yet sometimes disagreeable.
She's given love like there's no tomorrow
If she didn't have enough, she would have borrowed.

There is nothing I could ever do to repay
Except do God's work, and hope and pray.
... I hope she will one day see how close
I wish her and I to be.
And let her know there will be no other
She'll always be my beloved Mother.

-- David L. Kriss

--------------
-- Psalm 22:9,10
9 Yet You brought me safely from my mother’s womb
and led me to trust You when I was a nursing infant.
10 I was thrust upon You at my birth.
You have been my God from the moment I was born."

"A Mothers Cross"

A Mothers Cross in borne forever
Upon her shoulders lovingly.
No matter what, it never leaves her.
She’ll never opt to lay it down.

Her broken heart is never minded,
Her worry and her restless nights
Are part of Mothers Loving Nature
To give unselfishly in life.

She listens to the smallest whimper,
She’ll sacrifice to meet each need,
She’ll do without, it never matters;
For in her there is never greed.

A Mothers Cross is borne forever,
She’ll never opt to lay it down;
But when she’s taken up to Heaven,
Her Loving Cross becomes A Crown.

-- Mary Bennett

------------
-- Psalms 131:2
But I have stilled and quieted myself,
just as a small child is quiet with its mother.
Yes, like a small child is my soul within me.

"KIND LINES"

She fills my little world
With lots and lots of joy.
She knows my special dish
And my favorite toy.

She teaches me the things
That I should do each day,
To read God's Holy Word,
To obey and always pray.

She has a gentle voice
And a tender touch.
When I am really hurt
She helps the pain so much.

You know, of course, this poem
Must be about my mother--
For could these lines so kind
Be spoken of another?

-- David A. Olds

-- 2 Timothy 1:5
"I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that
dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your
mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you."

-- Isaiah 7:14
All right then, the Lord Himself will choose the sign.
Look! The virgin will conceive a Child!
She will give birth to a Son and will call Him Immanuel -- ‘ God is with us.’

-- Isaiah 49:15
"Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child?
Can she feel no love for a child she has borne?
But even if that were possible, I would not forget you!

-- Exodus 20:12
"Honor your father and your mother,
that your days may be long in the land which
the LORD your God gives you."
