May.02.06: Light for the Day -
"God Shapes the World by Prayers"

-- Colossians 4:2-4
2 Devote yourselves to Prayer with an Alert Mind
   and a Thankful Heart.
3 And Pray for us, too, that God would Open to us a door
for the Word, to Proclaim the Mystery of Christ,
for which I am also in chains.
4 Pray that I may Proclaim it as Clearly as I should.

------------------------

The more Praying in the world the better the world will be,
the mightier the forces against evil everywhere.

Prayer, in one phase of its operation, is a disinfectant and
a preventive. It purifies the air, it destroys the contagion of
evil.  Prayer is no fitful, short-lived thing. It is no voice crying
unheard and unheeded in the silence. It is a voice that goes
into God's ear, and it lives as long as God's ear is open to
holy pleas, as long as God's heart is alive to holy things.

God shapes the world by Prayers. Prayers are deathless.
The lips that uttered them may be closed in death, the heart
that felt them may have ceased to beat, but the Prayers live
before God, and God's heart is set on them and Prayers
outlive the lives of those who uttered them;
outlive a generation, outlive an age, outlive a world.

-- E.M. Bounds

-------------------------------------------
   When we work, we work
   When we Pray, God Works

-------------------------------------------

Heaven has many surprises in store for us. One of the best
will be to see all that our Prayers accomplished in the
advancement of God's kingdom. We can fashion future
history through Prayer.  Revivals such as the Great
Awakening and the Welsh Revival early in the last century
began, as do all revivals, through Prayer. Wars have been
won through Prayer, Freedom has been secured through
Prayer, and Peace has been maintained through Prayer.

By Praying for our leaders, world events, our brothers and
sisters in Christ around the world, we help determine their
destiny -- and ours. We may not live to see all the answers
to our Prayers, but one day in heaven we'll see.
There are many who Prayed years ago for us and our
generation. They are now in heaven and they know what
their Prayers wrought.
Now it's our turn to Pray for the generations to follow.
In our Prayers, we propel the church forward.

9 Pray like this:
   Our Father in Heaven,
   Hallowed be Your Name.
10 Your kingdom come.
   Your Will be done
On earth as it is in Heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And Forgive us our sins,
As we have forgiven those who have sinned against us.
13 And don’t let us yield to temptation,
But Deliver us from the evil one.
(For Yours is the Kingdom and the Power
     and the Glory Forever. Amen.)

-- Colossians 1:9-10
9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you,
we have Not Stopped Praying for you and Asking God
to Fill you with the Knowledge of His Will through all
   Spiritual Wisdom and Understanding.
10 And we pray this in order that you may Live a Life Worthy
of the Lord and may Please Him in every way: Bearing Fruit
in every Good Work, Growing in the Knowledge of God,
11 being Strengthened with all Power According to His
Glorious Might so that you may have Great Endurance

10 A final word: Be Strong with the Lord’s Mighty Power.
11 Put on all of God’s Armor so that you will be Able to
Stand Firm against all strategies and tricks of the devil.
12 For we are not fighting against people made of flesh
and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of
the unseen world, against those mighty powers of
darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits
     in the Heavenly realms.

13 Use Every Piece of God’s Armor to Resist the enemy in
the time of evil, so that after the battle you will still be
     Standing Firm.
14 Stand your ground, Putting on the Sturdy Belt of Truth
and the Body Armor of God’s Righteousness.
15 For Shoes, put on the Peace that comes from
the Good News, so that you will be Fully Prepared.
16 In every battle you will Need Faith as your Shield to
Stop the Fiery Arrows aimed at you by Satan.
17 Put on Salvation as your Helmet, and Take the Sword of
the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

18 Pray at All Times and on Every Occasion in the power
of the Holy Spirit. Stay Alert and be Persistent in
your Prayers for all Christians everywhere.
