May.11.06: Light for the Day -
"Mothers' Hearts"
-- Ephesians 6:2-3
(Exodus 20:12)
2 "Honor your father and mother" --
which is the first commandment with a promise:
3 "that it may go well with you
and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."
------------------------------
Before the child is born,
Anxious prayers ascend to heaven,
The young mother depends on God,
To nurture the life she's been given.
When the mother hears the first cry,
The tiny child claims her heart,
A bond that cannot be broken,
Deep passionate love from the start.
God is the author of this love,
To each mother it is given,
To minister to a newborn child,
A new life bestowed from heaven.
When the child grows old,
The mother's love is still there,
For she has not left her duty,
She still wraps the child in prayer.
Remember your mother,
Honor her with your love,
For she is the gift that was given,
To you from God above.
-- Julie L. McCarty
------------------------------
-- Psalms 127:3
Children are a Gift from the LORD;
They are a Reward from Him.
Children are a gift from God
On loan from Heaven above,
To train and nourish in the Lord
And show to them His love.
-- Sper

-- Psalms 139:13-14
13 For You created my inmost being;
You knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
----------------------------
A Mother
A Mother is a special person
In the eyes of Jesus Christ,
Who cherished His own mother
To the very end of life.
Mothers have hands so gentle,
To soothe away the pains;
Ears to hear all problems,
And help set them right again
A Mother’s heart is open
When a wayward child returns;
Forgiveness shows a part of love
For which her child now yearns.
Mothers never do give up
On any straying child
But teach them courage as they grow,
Remaining meek and mild.
A hug is always ready,
Waiting at the door
When the grown child comes home
To mother’s arms once more.
God bless you today dear mother
For the trials you’ve been through
To raise your baby, now full grown
May God the Father honor you.

-- John 19:26-27
26 When Jesus saw His mother standing there beside the
disciple He loved, He said to her, "Woman, he is your son."
27 And He said to this disciple, "She is your mother."
And from then on this disciple took her into his home.

Rose for Mother
Another Mother's Day is here,
Bringing joy and pleasure new.
On this special day, Mother dear,
I want to remember you.
I cannot give you costly gifts,
And I've told you this before,
No matter what I give you,
You give back much, much more.
I'm giving you a pure, sweet rose,
Gathered in the early morn,
This rose you planted in my heart,
The day that I was born.
In kindly, loving thoughts of you,
And with the faith you still impart,
The rose I give to you today
Is the love that's in my heart.
-- Cleo M. Shoffstall

-- Psalms
71:6 Yes, You have been
with me from birth; From my mother’s womb You have
cared for me. No wonder I am always Praising
You!

Mothers Are Earth Angels
Mothers are an exciting blend,
Of tough love and compassion,
Of honor, truth, and feeling,
And all things 'old-fashioned'.
They teach forgiveness and patience,
And God's Golden Rule...
To always love one another,
And to never be mean or cruel.
Mothers love to talk with Jesus,
She's always careful to say,
That we should be obedient,
To keep us from going astray.
When her children are sad and lonely,
Or they are sick in bed,
She's always there to help them,
Through those times they dread.
If they get smart and sassy,
She will give them that "look"
And send them to their room,
To read God's Good Book!
And when they say they are sorry,
She gives a big, bear, hug...
Life with mothers is interesting,
It's never dull or humbug!
So, take the time to tell her,
How she has helped you through,
All those 'growing-up' years,
Whether happy or blue.
Mothers are earth angels,
Their love will never end...
Treat her with respect and kindness;
She is your closest friend.
Give her the hug of the century,
And a fragrant rose bouquet...
There's no need for many words,
Just, "HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!"
-- Eva Young

-- Psalm
22:9-10 9 Yet You brought me Safely from my
mother’s womb and led me to Trust You when I was a nursing
infant. 10 I was thrust upon You at my birth. You
have been my God from the moment I was
born.

The Fruit of the Spirit
My mother is a Christian,
In every important way;
The fruit of the Holy Spirit
Is displayed in her every day.
My mother is filled with kindness,
With love and joy and peace;
Her patience and her goodness
Inspire, and never cease.
She follows our Lord Jesus
With faithfulness, and more;
She’s gentle and has self control,
She knows what prayer is for.
Thanks, Mom, for being a Christian,
And showing me how to be;
I’ll follow your example
For all eternity.
-- Joanna Fuchs
------------------------------
-- Galatians 5:22-23
22 But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives,
He will produce this kind of fruit in us:
Love, Joy, Peace, Patience,
Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness,
23 Gentleness, and Self-control.
Here there is no conflict with the law.

Thank You, Mom
Mom, there are so many moments
when I wish you knew... how much you
matter to me, and how much I thank you
for being such a wonderful mother.
If there is happiness in my heart,
it's because you helped put it there.
If there is gentleness in my beliefs,
it's because you showed me how to care.
If there is understanding in my thinking,
it's because you shared your wisdom.
If there is a rainbow over my shoulder,
it's because of your outlook and your vision.
If there is a knowledge that I can reach out and
I really can make some dreams come true,
it's because I learned from the best teacher of all.
I learned... from you.
In the times of my life, whether we
are near or far, please remember, Mom,
that there could never be any mother
more wonderful...than the one you are.

-- 2 Timothy 1:5
I have been reminded of your Sincere Faith,
which first Lived in your grandmother Lois
and in your mother Eunice
and, I am persuaded, now Lives in you also.

My Mother's Arms
I still remember her songs of love,
Melodies she sang as she rocked my troubles away.
I fondly recall a friendship shared,
Despite how I tried to grow up so fast.
I appreciate a relationship so special,
I hold her so dear to my heart.
Although I am now married with a family of my own,
We're never really apart.
My mother has always listened to my dreams,
And encouraged my heart to try.
She has never told me, "I told you so",
Even when some of the dreams died.
Although I had two brothers,
Mom never left any of us out.
She always managed to be there for us all,
Her devotion and love were never in doubt.
I think back from time to time,
And remember so much joy.
And realize that despite my age,
I will always be her little boy.

-- Proverbs 23:25
Let
your father and mother be glad,
Let her who bore you rejoice.
-- Exodus 20:12
Honor your father and your mother,
So that you may Live Long in the land
The LORD your God is giving you.
-- Proverb 1:8 (6:20)
My child, hear the instruction of your father,
And do not forsake the teaching of your mother.
-- Proverbs 23:22
Listen to you father; without him you would not exit.
When your mother is old, show her your appreciation.
