Aug.30.06: Light for the Day - “The Glory of God"      (Viet)  (C)  (S)  (F)

-- John 11:40

Then Jesus said, "Did I not tell you that if you believed,
   you would see the Glory of God?"

-- Exodus 33:17-23
17 And the LORD said to Moses, "I will do the very thing you have
     asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name."
18 Then Moses said, "Please, show me Your Glory."
19 And the LORD said, "I will cause all My goodness to pass in
     front of you, and I will proclaim My Name, the LORD, in your
     presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy,
     and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
20 But," He said, "you cannot see My Face,
      For no one may see Me and live."
21 Then the LORD said,
     "There is a place near Me where you may stand on a rock.
22 When My Glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock
     and cover you with My Hand until I have passed by.
23 Then I will remove My Hand and you will see My Back;
     but My Face must not be seen."

------------------

I had an overwhelming experience of the Lord's presence. I felt so
powerfully overcome by the nearness of the Holy Spirit that I had
to ask the Lord to draw back lest He kill me. It was so glorious that
I couldn't stand more than a small portion of it. -- Mordecai Ham

The testimonies of those who have known God in secret all have this in
common: When God comes near, the pray-er can never be the same.
Yes, we can experience God in such a way that we are filled with awe
at Him and yet terror at our own sinfulness. And if in this life, we can
stand only a small portion of God, what shall it be like to see Him
face-to-face someday? Glorious indeed!

Today, bow low before God. Seek Him alone and worship.
Recite aloud Psalm 150 in its entirety.

1 Praise the LORD.
   Praise God in His sanctuary;
   Praise Him in His mighty heavens.
2 Praise Him for His acts of power;
   Praise Him for His surpassing greatness.
3 Praise Him with the sounding of the trumpet,
   Praise Him with the harp and lyre,
4 Praise Him with tambourine and dancing,
   Praise Him with the strings and flute,
5 Praise Him with the clash of cymbals,
   Praise Him with resounding cymbals.
6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
   Praise the LORD.

-- Psalms 19
1 The heavens tell of the Glory of God.
   The skies display His marvelous craftsmanship.
2 Day after day they continue to speak;
   night after night they make Him known.
3 They speak without a sound or a word;
   Their voice is silent in the skies;
4 Yet their message has gone out to all the earth,
   And their words to all the world.
   The sun lives in the heavens where God placed it.
5 It bursts forth like a radiant bridegroom after His wedding.
   It rejoices like a great athlete eager to run the race.
6 The sun rises at one end of the heavens and follows its course
   to the other end. Nothing can hide from its heat.
7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul.
   The decrees of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
8 The commandments of the LORD are right, bringing joy to the heart.
   The commands of the LORD are clear, giving insight to life.
9 Reverence for the LORD is pure, lasting forever.
   The laws of the LORD are true; each one is fair.
10 They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold.
      They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb.
11 They are a warning to those who hear them;
     There is great reward for those who obey them.

12 How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart?
     Cleanse me from these hidden faults.
13 Keep me from deliberate sins! Don’t let them control me.
     Then I will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin.
14 May the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart be
     pleasing to You, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

-------------------

-- Jeremiah 29:11-13
11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD,
     "plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
      plans to give you hope and a future.
12 Then you will call upon Me and Come and Pray to Me,
     and I will listen to you.
13 You will seek Me and find Me
     when you seek Me with all your heart.

-- 2 Corinthians 4:6

For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness" (Gen. 1:3),
   made His Light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge
   of the Glory of God in the Face of Christ.

-- Ephesians 1:13-23
13 And now you also have heard the truth, the Good News that God
     saves you. And when you believed in Christ, He identified you as
     His own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom He promised long ago.
14 The Spirit is God’s guarantee that He will give us everything He
     promised and that He has purchased us to be his own people.
     This is just one more reason for us to praise our glorious God.

15 Ever since I first heard of your strong Faith in the Lord Jesus
     and your love for Christians everywhere,
16 I have never stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly,
17 asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you
     spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you might grow in
     your knowledge of God.

18 I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can
     understand the wonderful future He has promised to those He called.
     I want you to realize what a rich and glorious inheritance He has given
     to His people.

19 I pray that you will begin to understand the incredible greatness of
     His power for us who believe Him. This is the same mighty power
20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him in the place of honor
     at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.
21 Now He is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or
     anything else in this world or in the world to come.
22 And God has put all things under the authority of Christ,
     and He gave Him this authority for the benefit of the church.
23 And the church is His body; it is filled by Christ,
     who fills everything everywhere with His Presence.
