Jan.26.07:Light for the Day "For The Glory of God"  (<<)  (>>)

-- Psalms 118:1

Give thanks to the LORD,
   For He is good; His love endures forever.

-- 1 Corinthians 10:31

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do,
   Do it all for the Glory of God.

-- Colossians 3:17

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed,
   Do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
   Giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

-
A young athlete won Olympic acclaim and he was asked
to comment on his success. His response was, "I knew
I would be my best, because God ran with me every step
of the way." The sports commentator incredulously asked,
"You don't mean to say that you think God helped you win
today, do you?" The young man thought for a minute,
then said, "If not for God I would not be here today,
I would not have the equipment necessary to run and to
train, I would not know the meaning of commitment,
and I would not feel any need to be the best person I can
be for that reason I said that God ran with me. I could
not have won today without God."

What a wonderful statement of faith. All too often we
miss God in our everyday lives. From the simple fact of
our existence, to the miracle of the life we have been
given, to the talents we each posses, we should always
be aware of God's presence in our lives and in our world.
When we acknowledge Him in our lives, we can rest
assured that He will be with us no matter what we do.
What great comfort there is in knowing that God is with
us to help make us the best people we can be.

Prayer:
Though I may stumble through my life at times,
O Lord, help me to know that You are with me to pick me
up and to light my way. Alone, I am nothing.
With You, I will never fail. Amen.

-- Colossians 3:23-24
23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart,
   as working for the Lord, not for men,
24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from
   the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

-- 1 Peter 4:11

If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the
   very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it
   with the strength God provides, so that in all things
   God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To Him be
   the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

-- James 1:5-6
5 If you need wisdom -- if you want to know what God
   wants you to do -- ask Him, and He will gladly tell you.
   He will not resent your asking.
6 But when you ask Him, be sure that you really expect
   Him to answer, for a doubtful mind is as unsettled as
   a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.

-- 1 Chronicles 16:8-12
8 Give thanks to the LORD, call on His name;
   Make known among the nations what He has done.
9 Sing to Him, sing praise to Him;
   Tell of all His wonderful acts.
10 Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those
   who seek the LORD rejoice.
11 Look to the LORD and His strength; seek His face always.
12 Remember the wonders He has done, His miracles,
   and the judgments He pronounced.

-- Psalms 28:7-8
7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts
   in Him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and
   I will give thanks to Him in song.
8 The LORD is the strength of His people,
   a fortress of salvation for His anointed one.

-- Psalms 25:8-10
8 Good and upright is the LORD;
   Therefore He instructs sinners in the way.
9 He guides the humble in what is right and
   teaches them His way.
10 All the ways of the LORD are loving and faithful
   for those who keep the demands of His covenant.

-- Proverb 3:1-10
1 My son, do not forget my teaching,
   But keep my commands in your heart,
2 for they will prolong your life many years
   and bring you prosperity.
3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them
   around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 Then you will win favor and a good name in
   the sight of God and man.

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
   and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways acknowledge Him,
   and He will make your paths straight.
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
   fear the LORD and shun evil.
8 This will bring health to your body
   and nourishment to your bones.
9 Honor the LORD with your wealth,
   with the first fruits of all your crops;
10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing,
   and your vats will brim over with new wine.

-- Proverbs 16:3, 9; 23:17-18
16:3 Commit to the LORD whatever you do,
   And your plans will succeed.

16:9 A man’s heart plans his way,
   But the LORD directs his steps.

23:17 Do not let your heart envy sinners,
   But always be zealous for the fear of the LORD.
23:18 There is surely a Future Hope for you,
   And your Hope will not be cut off.

-- Isaiah 48:17-18
17 This is what the LORD says -- your Redeemer,
   The Holy One of Israel: "I am the LORD your God,
   Who teaches you what is best for you,
   Who directs you in the way you should go.
18 If only you had paid attention to My commands,
   your peace would have been like a river,
   your righteousness like the waves of the sea.
