How unsearchable His judgments, and His paths beyond tracing out! 34 Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been His counselor? 35 Who has ever given to God, that God should repay Him? 36 For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever! Amen. "Mysterious Ways" People are fascinated by mystery. A quick flip through the local TV listings is proof enough of that. You'll find everything from traditional whodunits to more obscure fare such as shows exploring the possibility of aliens or examining the latest conspiracy theories. The lure of the unknown is strong. People are drawn to mystery in part because they want to solve it, but equally because they want to know there is no plausible answer. Attempting to comprehend God is like trying to get the answers to all your other mystery questions at the same time. Who else but the only Person who has lived for eternity would understand infinity? Who else but the One who created the universe would know how big it is? With the limitations of a human mind, you can't fully understand God. Paul was intimately aware of this when he wrote about the depth of God's wisdom in Romans. But that didn't stop Paul from trying to know God. And that is precisely what God desires for you -- that you get to know Him. Because God is relational, you can get to know Him simply by talking with Him. Your knowledge of God will grow according to how much time you spend with Him in prayer. As you learn how God answers prayer, you'll come to know His thoughts. You'll learn what is important to God. And you'll discover that God's ways are not always knowable. You can also know God by observing His Creation. By studying the stars you can see His greatness, by watching an elephant, His creativity. His greatest creation, people, can teach you much about God -- keep in mind that people were created in God's image. Like you, God desires companionship (that is why He created people in the first place). Like you, God desires to be loved without condition (that is why He gave you free will). Perhaps the best way to know God is to read His resume: the Bible. Through the stories and wisdom presented in God's Word, you can learn about God's unending love. You can uncover insights into God's character -- that He is merciful, just, patient, powerful, all-knowing. There is no end to the amount of truth you can uncover about God by reading the Bible. Be compelled by the mystery of God to seek Him even more diligently. -- CL4Life -- John 1:1-5; 16-18 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In Him was Life, and that Life was the Light of men. 5 The Light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. 16 From the fullness of His grace we have all received one blessing after another. 17 For the Law was given through Moses; Grace and Truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God. But the One and Only Son is Himself God and is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us. -- John 10:30 "The Father and I are One." -- Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. -- 1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. -- 2 Corinthians 6:18 "I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters," says the Lord Almighty. (2 Samuel 7:14) -- Romans 8:14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. -- Galatians 3:26 For in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith. -- 1 John 4:8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. -- 1 John 3:18-24 18 Dear children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action. 19 And by this we will know that we are from the truth and will reassure our hearts before Him 20 whenever our hearts condemn us; for God is greater than our hearts, and He knows everything.. 21 Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God 22 and receive from Him anything we ask, because we obey His commands and do what pleases Him. 23 And this is His command: to believe in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as He commanded us. 24 Those who obey His commands live in Him, and He in them. And this is how we know that He lives in us: We know it by the Spirit He gave us. -- Revelation 1:8 "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "Who is, and Who was, and Who is to come, the Almighty." -- Revelation 22:13 "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End." //////////////////////////////////// -- Exodus 3:14 And God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." And He said, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’" -- Isaiah 55:8-11 8 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways," declares the LORD. 9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. 10 As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, 11 so is My Word that goes out from My mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." -- 2 Samuel 7:22 How great You are, O Sovereign LORD! There is no one like You, and there is no God but You, as we have heard with our own ears. -- Job 11:7 Can you search out the deep things of God? Can you find out the limits of the Almighty? -- Job 21:22 Can anyone teach knowledge to God, since He judges even the highest? -- Numbers 23:19-20 19 God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfill? 20 I have received a command to bless; He has blessed, and I cannot change it. -- 1 Kings 8:27-28 27 But will God really dwell on earth? The heavens, even the highest heaven, cannot contain You. How much less this temple I have built! 28 Yet give attention to Your servant’s prayer and his plea for mercy, O LORD my God. Hear the cry and the prayer that Your servant is praying in Your presence this day. -- Ecclesiastes 3:14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere Him. -- Ecclesiastes 8:17 Then I saw all that God has done. No one can comprehend what goes on under the sun. Despite all his efforts to search it out, man cannot discover its meaning. Even if a wise man claims he knows, he cannot really comprehend it. -- Exodus 15:11 Who among the gods is like You, O LORD? Who is like You -- majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders? -- Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD Your God is God; He is the faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commands. -- Micah 7:18-19 18 Who is a God like You, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of His inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. 19 You will again have compassion on us; You will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea. -- Psalms 145:8-9 8 The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. 9 The LORD is good to all; He has compassion on all He has made. -- Psalms 90:1-2 1 A Prayer of Moses the man of God. "Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. 2 Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God." -- Psalms 89:5-17 5 The heavens praise Your wonders, O LORD, Your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones. 6 For who in the skies above can compare with the LORD? Who is like the LORD among the heavenly beings? 7 In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared; He is more awesome than all who surround Him. 8 O LORD God Almighty, who is like You? You are mighty, O LORD, and Your faithfulness surrounds You. 9 You rule over the surging sea; when its waves mount up, You still them. 10 You crushed Rahab like one of the slain; with Your strong arm You scattered your enemies. 11 The heavens are Yours, and Yours also the earth; You founded the world and all that is in it. 12 You created the north and the south; Tabor and Hermon sing for joy at Your name. 13 Your arm is mighty. Your hand is strong. Your right hand is lifted high. 14 Righteousness and justice are the foundations of Your throne. Mercy and truth stand in front of You. 15 Blessed are the people who know how to praise You. They walk in the light of Your presence, O LORD. 16 They find joy in Your name all day long. They are joyful in Your righteousness 17 because You are the glory of their strength. By your favor You give us victory. -- Psalms 100:1-5 1 For giving thanks. Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. 2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. 3 Know that the LORD is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. 4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. 5 For the LORD is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations. As I read the Bible, I seem to find holiness to be His supreme attribute. -- Billy Graham God loves each of us as if there were only one of us. ~ St. Augustine God understands our prayers even when we can't find the words to say them. ~ Anonymous God: The most popular scapegoat for our sins. ~ Mark Twain Let God's promises shine on your problems. ~ Corrie Ten Boom Weave in faith and God will find the thread. ~ Anonymous When we can't piece together the puzzle of our own lives, remember the best view of a puzzle is from above.
