("Pray To Receive Christ")

-- John 14:1-3
1 Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in Me. 2 In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with Me that you also may be where I am.

-- Psalms 130:5
I wait for the LORD, my soul waits,
and in His Word I put my Hope.

The late C.S.Lewis in his remarkable book Christian Behavior , said, "Hope is one of the theological virtues." He meant that a continual looking forward to the eternal world is not, as some people think, a form of escapism or wishful thinking, but one of the things a Christian is meant to do.

This does not mean we have to leave the present world as it is. If you read the Bible and history you will find that the Christians who did the most for the present world were those who thought the most of the next. It is only since Christians have largely ceased to think of the next world that they have become so ineffective in this one.
"Aim at heaven," said Lewis, "and you will get earth thrown in.
Aim at earth, and you will get neither."

In the midst of the pessimism, gloom, and frustration of the present hour there is one bright beacon of Hope -- and that is the promise of Jesus Christ, "If I go and prepare a place for you. I will come again and receive you to Myself." (John 14:3)

-- Billy Graham

If you have been reduced to God being your only Hope,
You are in a good place. ~ J.Laffoon

God hasn't given up on you. He can still do great things for you, in you, and through you. God is ready and waiting and able.
What about you, and me? ~ P.Marshall

-- John 15:5
I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

-- 1 Corinthians 15:19
If Christ is our Hope in this life only,
we deserve more pity than any other people.

-- Romans 5:1-5
1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the Hope of the glory of God.
3 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, Hope. 5 And Hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.

-- Romans 8:24-25
24 For in this Hope we were saved. But Hope that is seen is no Hope at all. Who Hopes for what he already has? 25 But if we Hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.

-- Romans 12:12
Be joyful in Hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

-- Romans 15:4
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have Hope.

-- Ephesians 4:4-6
4 There is One Body and one Spirit -- just as you were called to One Hope when you were called -- 5 One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism; 6 One God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

-- Colossians 1:3-5
3 We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, 4 because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saints -- 5 the faith and love that spring from the Hope that is stored up for you in heaven and that you have already heard about in the word of truth, the Gospel

-- Titus 1:2
A faith and knowledge resting on the Hope of eternal life,which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time.

-- 1 Peter 1:3, 13
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us New Birth into a living Hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, + 13 Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your Hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed.

-- 1 John 3:3
Everyone who has this Hope in Him purifies himself,
just as He is pure.

-- Hebrews 10:23
Let us hold fast the confession of our Hope without wavering,
for He who promised is faithful.

-- 1 Corinthians 13:13
And now these three remain: Faith, Hope and Love.
But the greatest of these is Love.

Many things are possible for the person who has Hope.
Even more is possible for the person who has Faith.
And still more is possible for the person who knows how to Love.
But everything is possible for the person who practices all three virtues. ~ B.Lawrence

-- Psalms 65:5
You answer us with awesome deeds of righteousness, O God our Savior, the Hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas.

-- Psalms 42:11
Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your Hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.

-- Psalms 62:5
Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my Hope comes from Him.

-- Psalms 71:5
For You have been my Hope, O Sovereign LORD, my confidence since my youth.

-- Psalms 25:4-14
(A Prayer for defense, guidance, and pardon. As we trust and Hope in God, He grants these same requests to us.)

4 Show me Your ways, O LORD,
teach me Your paths;
5 guide me in Your truth and teach me,
for You are God my Savior,
and my Hope is in You all day long.
6 Remember, O LORD,
Your great mercy and love,
for they are from of old.
7 Remember not the sins of my youth
and my rebellious ways;
according to Your love remember me,
for You are good, O LORD.

8 Good and upright is the LORD;
therefore He instructs sinners in the ways.
9 He guides the humble in what is right
and teaches them His way.
10 All the ways of the LORD are loving
and faithful for those who keep the demands of His covenant.
11 For the sake of Your name, O LORD,
forgive my iniquity, though it is great.

12 Who are they that fear the LORD?
He will teach them the way that they should choose.
13 They will abide in prosperity,
and their children will possess the land.
14 The friendship of the LORD is for those who fear Him,
and He makes His covenant known to them.

-- Psalms 119:81,114,147
81 My soul faints with longing for Your salvation,
But I have put my Hope in Your Word.
114 You are my refuge and my shield;
I have put my hope in Your Word.
147 I rise before dawn and cry for help;
I have put my hope in Your Word.
