-- Galatians 4:6
Because you are God’s children, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into us to call out, "Abba! Father!"

-- Exodus 20:12 (Deut. 5:16)
Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

Blessed indeed is the man who hears many gentle voices call him father! -- L.M.Child

A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society. ~ Billy Graham

It is much easier to become a father than to be one. ~ K.Nerburn

What Makes a Dad?

God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,

The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagles flight,

The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,

The God combined these qualities,
And then there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it -- Dad.

A Special Father

A special father, in God’s eyes,
is one who lives to see...
that all his children love the Lord,
and act accordingly.

It doesn't matter who he is,
or the money that he’s earned...
God cares about a father’s heart,
and the godly things he’s learned.

So, Fathers, teach your children,
to find joy in simple things...
in reverence to God’s blessings
and the happiness He brings.

And when they have their children,
they’ll raise them just like you...
to love and praise God daily,
the way you taught them to.

Daddy's Hand

I remember daddy's hands folded silently in prayer
And reachin' out to hold me, when I had a nightmare
You could read quite a story in the callous' and lines
Years of work and worry had left their mark behind

I remember daddy's hands how they held my mama tight
And patted my back for something done right
There are things that I'd forgotten that I loved about the man
But I'll always remember the love in daddy's hands

Daddy's hands were soft and kind when I was cryin'
Daddy's hands were hard as steel when I'd done wrong
Daddy's hands weren't always gentle but I've come to understand
There was always love in daddy's hands.

I remember daddy's hands workin' 'til they bled
Sacrifised unselfishly just to keep us all fed
If I could do things over, I'd live my life again
And never take for granted the love in daddy's hands

-- Luke 11:2
So He said to them, "When you pray, say:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven ..."

-- John 15:9-10
9 As the Father has loved Me, so have I loved you. Now remain in My love. 10 If you obey My commands, you will remain in My love, just as I have obeyed My Father’s commands and remain in His love.

-- Matthew 19:19
Honor your father and mother, (Exodus 20:12; Deut. 5:16)
and love your neighbor as yourself. (Lev. 19:18)

-- Ephesians 6:1-4
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 Honor your father and mother" -- which is the first commandment with a promise -- 3 that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth." (Deut. 5:16)

4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

-- Psalms 2:7
I will proclaim the decree of the LORD: He said to me,
"You are My Son; today I have become your Father."

-- Psalms 103:13
As a father has compassion on his children,
so the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.

-- Psalm 34:11
Come, my children, and listen to me,
and I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

-- Proverb 3:11-12
11 My son, do not despise the LORD’s discipline and do not resent His rebuke, 12 because the LORD disciplines those He loves, as a father the son he delights in.

- Proverb 23:22, 25
22 Listen to your father, who gave you life,
And do not despise your mother when she is old.

25 May your father and mother be glad;
May she who gave you birth rejoice!
