(Home) (VN) (C1) (C2) (Ko) (Sp) (Fr) (It) (De) (Ru) (Ar) ("Pray To Receive Christ") -- Matthew 11:28-30 28 Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and my burden is light. God doesn't sweat. He doesn't get ti:#000777 or suffer from aching muscles. He never gets stressed out, despite the size of a task. He never needs to use aspirin or megavitamins or analgesic ointments. Yet what did He do after creating the world? He rested. He didn't need to rest, but He purposefully took the time to step back, cease working, and enjoy His creation. If God made time to rest, shouldn't you? As a member of the human race, you need to rest occasionally. You need to focus on the human, once in a while, and not so much on the race. Take time to recover physically, emotionally, and spiritually from life's demands. Take time to take stock of where you've been, where you are, and where you are headed. Take the time for quiet, reflective, and restful moments -- away from stress and to-do lists. Take the time to be a friend, a parent, a child of God... The lesson: It's possible to become so obsessed with work that you ignore your body's physical and mental signals that rest and replenishment are needed. It's not wise to disregard those signals. Various studies reveal that those who fail to recharge their mental and physical batteries once in a while are more susceptible to illness and stress-related problems such as ulcers, and to mistakes on the job. Rest can help you avoid such perils. Additionally, in resting you will find the time and the right frame of mind to contemplate God's wonders and to thank Him for His grace and kindness to you. And you can gather the energy to live your life to the fullest... To be at your best, to be healthy, to be a well-rounded person, to fully and truly enjoy life, you must find the time to rest your body, mind, and spirit. Think of all the extra hours you spend working. Thinks of what that time could mean to your family, your well-being, and your relationship with God -- the God who understands the value of occasional rest time. Promises: - I will appreciate the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of rest. - I will trust Jesus' promise that if I ask Him He will give me rest. - I will insist on having a life and not just a career. - I will protect my rest time from the intrusion of busyness. - I will seek God's wisdom as I determine my life's priorities. - CkL4Life -- Matthew 7:7 Ask and it will be given to you; Seek and you will find; Knock and the door will be opened to you. -- Genesis 2:2-3 2 By the seventh day God had finished the work He had been doing; so on the seventh day He rested from all His work. 3 And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it He rested from all the work of creating that He had done. -- Exodus 20:8-11 (The 4th Commandment) 8 Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but He rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. -- Exodus 33:14 The LORD replied, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." -- Exodus 34:21 "Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during the plowing season and harvest you must rest." -- Hebrews 4:9-11 9 Therefore, a time of rest and worship (Sabbath-rest) exists for God’s people. 10 Those who ente:#000777 His place of rest also rested from their work as God did from His. 11 So we must make every effort to enter that place of rest. Then no one will be lost by following the example of those who refused to obey. -- Mark 2:27-28 27 Then Jesus said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. 28 So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath." -- Psalms 23:1-3,6 1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, 3 He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake... 6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. -- Psalms 55:6 I said, "Oh, that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest." -- Psalms 62:1,5 1 My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. 5 Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from Him. -- Psalms 116:7 Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the LORD has been good to you. -- Isaiah 28:12 God has told His people, “Here is a place of rest; let the weary rest here. This is a place of quiet rest.” But they would not listen. -- Isaiah 48:18 If only you had paid attention to My commands, your peace would have been like a river, your righteousness like the waves of the sea -- John 14:26-27 26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. |
