-- 1 John 2:5-6
5 But if anyone obeys His word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in Him: 6 Whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did.

-- John 14:1
Do not let your hearts be troubled. trust in God; trust also in Me.

In a changing world,
you can trust God's unchanging Word.

Don't study the Bible to be able to quote it;
Study it to obey it.

Knowing God gives meaning to life,
and obeying God gives purpose to life.

The key to releasing the transforming power of the Holy Spirit involves not only repentance and submission, but also obedience and trust.

When a soldier submits to the authority of his commanding officer, he obeys what that officer tells him to do, if a patient submits to a doctor's treatment, he or she does what the doctor says to do. If a football player submits to the direction of his coach, he does what the coach instructs him to do. And when we submit ourselves to the King of kings and the Lord of lords, we obey what He tells us to do, because we know His way is right.

As we have seen, God shows us His will first of all through His Word, the Bible. How many problems would we avoid if we knew God's Word and obeyed it? The Bible doesn't give us a rule for every conceivable situation, but it does cover far more than most of us realize. It also gives us principles by which we are to guide our lives. God's Word isn't to be debated or dissected; it is to be done. The psalmist said: "I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey Your Word. I have not departed from Your Laws, for You Yourself have taught me." (Psalm 119:101-102).

God also leads us by His Spirit, especially when we face difficult decisions - and when He does, we must obey, regardless of the cost. I have experienced this repeatedly in my own life. Sometimes obedience came easily - but sometimes it was a struggle even to know what was right. I can recall numerous times when we were weighing whether or not God wanted us to expand our ministry in certain ways, such as through films or television, or we were trying to decide which invitations to accept for an evangelistic outreach. Logic alone wasn't enough. Only as we prayed, studied the Scriptures, and sought the godly advice of others would the answer eventually come, confirmed by the inner voice of the Holy Spirit saying, ... "This is the way; walk in it" (Isaiah 30:21).

-- Billy Graham

All God's revelations are sealed to us until they are opened to us by obedience. You will never get them open by philosophy or thinking. Immediately you obey, a flash of light comes. Let God's truth work in you by soaking in it, not by worrying into it. Obey God in the thing He is at present showing you, and instantly the next thing is opened up. We read tomes on the work of the Holy Spirit when... five minutes of drastic obedience would make things clear as a sunbeam. We say, "I suppose I shall understand these things some day." You can understand them now: it is not study that does it, but obedience. The tiniest fragment of obedience, and heaven opens up and the profoundest truths of God are yours straight away. God will never reveal more truth about Himself till you obey what you know already. Beware of being wise and prudent.

-- Oswald Chambers

-- John 12:44
Then Jesus cried out, "When a man believes in Me, he does not believe in Me only, but in the One who sent Me."

-- Romans 15:13
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

-- 2 Corinthians 4:13
It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." (Ps. 116:10) With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak.

-- Hebrews 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.

-- Psalms 20:7
Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

-- Psalms 143:8
Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love,
For I have put my trust in You.
Show me the way I should go,
For to You I lift up my soul.

-- Isaiah 12:2
Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid.
The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song;
He has become my salvation."

-- Isaiah 26:3-4
3 You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in You. 4 trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal.

-- Luke 11:28
Jesus replied,
"Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it."

-- Luke 6:46-49
46 "Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? 47 I will show you what he is like who comes to Me and hears My words and puts them into practice. 48 He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. 49 But the one who hears My words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete."

-- Matthew 7:21
Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven.

-- James 1:22
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.
Do what it says.

-- John 14:15-17, 21, 23-24
15 If you love Me, you will obey what I command. 16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever -- 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you.

+ 21 Whoever has My commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves Me. He who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him. .... + 23 Jesus replied, "If anyone loves Me, he will obey My teaching. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me will not obey My teaching. These words you hear are not My own; they belong to the Father who sent Me."

-- Acts 5:29
Peter and the other apostles replied:
"We must obey God rather than men!"

-- 1 John 2:3-6
3 We know that we have come to know Him if we obey His commands. 4 The man who says, "I know Him," but does not do what He commands is a liar, and the truth is not in Him. 5 But if anyone obeys His word, God’s love is truly made complete in Him. This is how we know we are in Him: 6 Whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did.

-- 1 John 3:21-24
21 Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God 22 and receive from Him anything we ask, because we obey His commands and do what pleases Him. 23 And this is His command: to believe in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as He commanded us. 24 Those who obey His commands live in Him, and He in them. And this is how we know that He lives in us: We know it by the Spirit He gave us.

-- 1 John 5:2-5
2 This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out His commands. 3 This is love for God: to obey His commands. And His commands are not burdensome. 4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

-- 1 Samuel 15:22
But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to His voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams."

-- Psalms 112:1
Praise the LORD! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD,
Who delights greatly in His commandments

-- Psalms 119:7-11; 105-106
7 I will praise You with an upright heart as I learn Your righteous laws. 8 I will obey Your decrees; do not utterly forsake me. 9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to Your word. 10 I seek You with all my heart; do not let me stray from Your commands. 11 I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You.

+ 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.
106 I have taken an oath and confirmed it,
that I will follow Your righteous laws.

No one who has ever chosen to trust God has made the wrong decision.

When you don’t know what to do, trust God He will pull you through!

All that I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen.

We must trust His mighty hand , even if we do not understand His plan.

With God, there are no accidents. Everything happens for a reason, so stop worrying about what tomorrow brings, and put your trust in Him.

Faith is simply trusting in God when life gives you reasons not to.

Thank God for what you have. trust God for what you need.

Hymn: Trust and Obey [Midi]

1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

++++++++

2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

Refrain

3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

Refrain

4. But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

Refrain

5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet.
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way.
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

Refrain
