Thursday, May 1, 2008. The theme for this year is "Prayer! America's Strength and Shield" and is based on the verse from Psalm 28:7 which states: "The Lord is my strength and shield; my heart trusts in Him and I am helped."
The LORD's Prayer -- Matthew 6:9-13 9 Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts (sin), As we forgive our debtors. 13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
Apostles Creed Prayer I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, Born of the virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended to the dead. The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, He is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; And He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, The holy (Christian) catholic Church, The communion of saints, The forgiveness of sins, The resurrection of the body, And the life everlasting. Amen.
Serenity Prayer Dear God, grant me: The Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and the Wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace. Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it. Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life, and supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Amen

To be an effective person of prayer, you must have relationship with the One to whom you pray.
1 Guard your steps when you go to the House of God. Do you have a place of shelter where you seek only His face? Do you spend time in that secret place? Have you given prayer the priority it deserves? And when you pray, do you remember that it is the Lord's face you seek?

When the world drops you to your knees, take the opportunity to Pray! Don't worry about anything, Pray about everything. Though millions are bending God's ear in Prayer, He listens to each individually. More than anything else, Prayer is a relationship. We cannot survive without communication. Prayer is our communication with God. Do you want to survive? The purpose of Prayer is to find God's will and to make that will our Prayer. God's answers are wiser than our Prayers. Pray - don't think about it, because when you think about it, you think what you want to happen and not what is really happening. Rich is the person who has a Praying friend. Where there is much Prayer, there will be much of the Spirit; where there is much of the Spirit, there will be ever-increasing Prayer. Prayer is like breathing. Stop breathing and you die.
