God is ready to answer our prayers, but we must ask for His assistance. Surely God could take care of our needs without our asking. But when we ask, we are acknowledging that He alone is God and that we cannot accomplish in our own strength all that is His domain to do (John 15:5). When we ask, we must humble ourselves, lay aside our willfulness and worry, and determine to obey Him. -- L.A.B. -- Romans 12:12 Be joyful in hope, Patient in affliction, Faithful in Prayer. -- 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 Who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. Many think that when God comforts us, our troubles should go away. But if that were always so, people would turn to God only out of a desire to be relieved of pain and not out of love and trust for Him. We must understand that being "comforted" can also mean receiving strength, encouragement, and hope to deal with our troubles (see De 31:6-8; 1Cor 10:13; 2Tim 2:13; Heb 6:8;10:23;..). The more we suffer, the more comfort God gives us. If you are feeling overwhelmed, allow God to comfort you. Remember that every trial you endure will help you comfort other people who are suffering similar troubles. (Hebrews 2:18) - "Because He Himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted (or suffered). (Romans 8:28) - "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose." -- L.A.B. "A Prayer Away." Does it seem that your troubles won't end? Are you needing some help from a friend ? There is still hope in sight, things can still turn out right; You're only A Prayer away. Are your burdens weighing you down? Are you always wearing a frown? Friend, don't cry in despair, there is someone who cares; And He's only A Prayer away. Are your problems causing your grief? Do you struggle to stay on your feet? Someone's waiting for you, and He'll see you through; You're only A Prayer away. If you will give Jesus your heart, He will give your life a new start; He'll cleanse you from sin, He's your Savior and Friend; And He's only A Prayer away. -- Jan McIntosh. -- Philippians 4:6-7 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by Prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. When we depend upon organization, we get what organization can do; when we depend upon education, we get what education can do; when we depend upon man, we get what man can do; but when we depend upon Prayer, we get what God can do! -- A.C. Dixon Organization, education, and man all have their place. They are good. They are necessary. But to receive what really matters in life requires God's blessing. Today, set aisde the good things, the necessary things and go to God. God uses Prayer as the genesis of His works on earth. Depend upon Prayers -- and get what God can do. God provides for man that trust. -- Jeremiah 29:11-13 11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart. -- Proverbs 3:5-8 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and shun evil. 8 This will bring health to your body And nourishment to your bones. A day without Prayer is a day without power. Do the Lord's work in the Lord's time. Pray while God hears, hear while God speaks, believe while God promises, and obey while God command. -- John Mason Let the life of Prayer flow into the busiest hours of your busiest days. It will be a defense against temptations. It will give you power in Christian sevice. It will hallow all our influence. It will give you peace in the midst of dangers, help in weakness, light in darkness, comfort in sorrows, companionship in loneliness, and friendship for your hungry heart. If we know how to get help in Prayer, we need never fail at any point in life, for then God's might is back of us as the ocean is back of the bay. -- J.R. Miller. Many times we come to God worried about our past sins, our future worries, and our present problems. And yet God has remedies for all three of these phases of our history. Our past sins are covered with the blood of Christ -- forever gone. Our future too is under the strict oversight of God. He will allow nothing to cross our path we can't handle. As for out present, it too is in God's keeping. We need only to Leave Ourselves With God. . LEAVE OURSELF WITH GOD. Today when you rise from Prayer, be sure that your load is lighter. You will have left all your burden there. -- N.Harrison There is nothing too great for God's power, and nothing too small for His love. -- Corrie Ten Boom -- Luke 1:37 For nothing is impossible with God. -- Matthew 11:28-30 28 "Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." -- James 5:13-18 13 Are any of you suffering hardships? You should Pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises. 14 Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and Pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 Such A Prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven. 16 Confess your sins to each other and Pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest Prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. 17 Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he Prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years! 18 Then, when he Prayed again, the sky sent down rain and the earth began to yield its crops. -- Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. -- 1 John 1:7-9 7 But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin. 8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the Truth is not in us. + 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. -- Mark 14:38 Watch and Pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak. -- Isaiah 40:28-31 28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; + 31 But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; They will run and not grow weary, They will walk and not be faint -- Isaiah 55:6-7 6 Seek the LORD while He may be found; Call on Him while He is near. 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon. -- 2 Chronicles 7:14-15 14 If my people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and Pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the Prayers offered in this place. -- Matthew 6:9-13 (The LORD's Prayer) 9 Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts (sin), As we forgive our debtors. 13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. -- Psalm 27:8 When You said, "Seek My face," My heart said to You, "Your face, LORD, I will seek." -- Psalm 91:1-2 1 He who dwells in the Secret Place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust." -- Psalm 5:3 My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning I will direct my prayer to You, and I will look up. -- Psalm 25:1 To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul. -- Psalm 50:15 Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor Me. -- Psalm 55:17 Evening and morning, and at noon, I will pray and cry aloud; and He shall hear my voice. -- Psalms 145:18 The LORD is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. -- Matthew 7:7 Ask and it will be given to you; Seek and you will find; Knock and the door will be opened to you. -- Jude 1:20-21 20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, Praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. -- Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. When the world drops you to your knees, take the opportunity to Pray! Don't worry about anything, Pray about everything. Though millions are bending God's ear in Prayer, He listens to each individually. More than anything else, Prayer is a relationship. We cannot survive without communication. Prayer is our communication with God. Do you want to survive? The purpose of Prayer is to find God's will and to make that will our Prayer. God's answers are wiser than our Prayers. Pray - don't think about it, because when you think about it, you think what you want to happen and not what is really happening. Rich is the person who has A Praying friend. Where there is much Prayer, there will be much of the Spirit; where there is much of the Spirit, there will be ever-increasing Prayer. Prayer is like breathing. Stop breathing and you die. Stop Praying and your Christian experience will soon fade away. -- Eric Liddell Don't Pray when you feel like it. Have an appointment with the Lord and keep it. -- Corrie Ten Boom You say you do not know how to Pray?... Follow the leading of simplicity in Prayer, there can never be excess of it, for God loves to see us like little children in His presence -- Jean-Pierre De.Caussade (Mat 19:14 - "Let the little children come to Me, ...) The more time we spend on our knees in communion with God (and study His Word), the better we shall comprehend His wonderful nature. -- Elizabeth Prentiss Prayer doesn't consist of gifted speech and elegant phrases, but of brokenness of heart. -- John Mason Prayer requires more of the heart than of the tongue. -- Adam Clarke How rare it is to find a soul silent enough to hear God speak. -- Francois Fenelon Our Prayer are God's Opportunities. -- Charles E. Cowman When we Pray in the Spirit, we will Pray for the right things and in the right way. There will be joy and power in our Prayer. -- R.A.Torrey I live in the Spirit of Prayer. I Pray as I walk about, when I lie down and when I rise up. And the answer are always coming. -- George Mueller (Psalm 66:18-20) - 18 If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; 19 but God has surely listened and heard my voice in Prayer. 20 Praise be to God, who has not rejected my Prayer or withheld His love from me! A most beneficial exercise in Secret Prayer before the Father is to write things down exactly so I see exactly what I think and want to say. Only those who have tried these ways know the ineffable benefit of such strenuous times in secret. -- Oswald Chambers Prayer will make a Christian cease from sin, or sin will entice a man to cease from Prayer. -- John Bunyan Prayer is repeating the Victory's Name (Jesus) into the ears of Satan and insisting on his retreat. -- S.D.Gordon (James 4:7-8) - 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. ... (Ephesians 6:10-13) - 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Prayer is not preparation for work, it is work. Prayer is not preparation for the battle, it is the battle. -- Oswald Chambers Whatever God can do, Faith can do; and whatever Faith can do, Prayer can do when it is offered in Faith. -- A.W.Tozer Prayer is knocking at the door, Faith is the expectation that it will be opened. -- W.J.Harney (Revelation 3:20) - Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. Unless I had the Spirit of Prayer, I could do nothing. -- Charles G.
