Pray Without Ceasing =
/
I will Pray without ceasing, /
For it keeps me ever focused on You. /
/
I will Pray without ceasing, /
For I know Your promises are true. /
/
I will Pray without ceasing, /
For everything, all my burdens, /
my fears and concerns have I given to You. /
/
I will Pray without ceasing, /
For protection, guidance, strength, all that I need of You. /
/
I will Pray without ceasing, /
All my love, my heart, I give to You. /
/
I will Pray without ceasing, /
For all things You have seen me through... /
/
Finally, I will Pray without ceasing, /
For I know I can always depend on You. /
/
I love You Lord /
AMEN. /

-- 1 Thessalonians 5:16-25 =
[16] Be joyful always;
++ [17] Pray without ceasing,
[18] In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
[19] Do not quench the Spirit.
[20] Do not despise prophecies.
[21] Test all things; hold fast what is good.
[22] Abstain from every form of evil.
[23] Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
[24] He who calls you is faithful, Who also will do it.
[25] Brethren, Pray for us.
(See Life Application at the end)
O Lord, You Know How Busy I Must Be This Day,
If I Forget You, Do Not Forget me. (Amen.)
~ General Lord Astley (1600')
-- Proverbs 22:6 =
Train children onto the right path, /
and when they are older, they will not leave it.

PRAYING ALWAYS =
/
Teacher: /
/
Little eyes, looking wise, /
Have you said your morning Prayer? /
Have you thought, as you ought, /
Of our heavenly Father’s care? /
Tell me what our Prayer should be /
When the morning light we see. /
/
All: /
/
Pleasant light, clear and bright, /
Shining on the world today. /
So may love from above /
Shine along our upward way; /
So let everything we see /
Turn our thoughts, O Lord, to Thee. /
/
All: /
/
Water clear, standing near, /
Wash our hands and faces clean. /
May the Lord, by His Word, /
Wash our hearts from every sin. /
So let everything we see /
Turn our thoughts, O Lord, to Thee. /
/
Girls: /
/
Cloak and hood, new and good, /
Made to keep our bodies warm. /
Words of truth, learned in youth, /
Keep our souls from every harm. /
So let everything we see /
Turn our thoughts, O Lord, to Thee. /
/
Boys: /
/
Boot or shoe, old or new, /
Let us keep them clean and neat; /
Let us Pray that we may /
Some day walk the golden street; /
So let everything we see /
Turn our thoughts, O Lord, to Thee. /
/
Girls: /
/
Collar white, ribbons bright, /
Apron, bonnet, shawl or dress; /
So may we ever be /
Clad in Jesus’ righteousness; /
So let everything we see /
Turn our thoughts, O Lord, to Thee. /
/
Boys: /
/
Top or ball, treasures all, /
Books and toys I dearly prize; /
Yet may I, when life pass, /
To my heavenly treasures rise; /
So let everything we see /
Turn our thoughts, O Lord, to Thee. /
/
All: /
/
Night or day, work or play, /
In our hearts may be a Prayer; /
God can see if there be, /
Well He knows what thoughts are there; /
So let everything we see /
Turn our thoughts, O Lord, to Thee. /

-- Matthew 19:14 =
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
-- 2 Timothy 3:15-17 =
[15] And how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
++ [16] All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
[17] so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
-- Ephesians 6:18 =
Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your Prayers for all believers everywhere.
-------- +-+ --------
PRAYER IS THE SOUL’S SINCERE DESIRE =
/
Prayer is the soul’s sincere desire, /
Unuttered or expressed; /
The motion of a hidden fire /
That trembles in the breast. /
/
Prayer is the burden of a sigh, /
The falling of a tear /
The upward glancing of an eye, /
When none but God is near. /
/
Prayer is the simplest form of speech /
That infant lips can try; /
Prayer, the sublimest strains /
That reach The Majesty on high. /
/
Prayer is the Christian’s vital breath, /
The Christian’s native air, /
His watchword at the gates of death; /
He enters Heaven with Prayer. /
/
Prayer is the contrite sinner’s voice, /
Returning from his ways, /
While angels in their songs rejoice /
And cry, “Behold, he Prays!” /
/
The saints in Prayer appear as one /
In word, in deed, and mind, /
While with the Father and the Son /
Sweet fellowship they find. /
/
No Prayer is made by man alone /
The Holy Spirit pleads, /
And Jesus, on the eternal throne, /
For sinners intercedes. /
/
O Thou by Whom we come to God, /
The Life, the Truth, the Way, /
The path of Prayer Thyself hast trod: /
Lord, teach us how to Pray. /
/

[9] This is how you should Pray: /
"Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. /
[10] Your Kingdom come. /
Your Will be done On earth as it is in heaven. /
[11] Give us this day our daily bread. /
[12] And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. /
[13] And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. /
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."
-- Matthew 26:41 =
Watch and Pray so that you will not fall into temptation. /
The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.

Then Jesus told His disciples a parable to show them /
that they should always Pray and not give up.

-- 2 Timothy 1:5 =
I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.
-- Psalms 71:17 =
Since my youth, O God, You have taught me, /
and to this day I declare Your marvelous deeds.
-- Psalms 78:2-4 =
2 I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter hidden things, things from of old --
3 what we have heard and known, what our fathers have told us.
4 We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, His power, and the wonders He has done.
-- Psalms 119:9-12 =
++ [9] How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to Your Word.
[10] I seek You with all my heart; do not let me stray from Your commands.
++ [11] I have hidden Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against You.
[12] Praise be to You, O LORD; teach me Your decrees.
+++ Pray for Unity (in Christ, with Christ,...) +++
-- John 17:20-23 =
20 "My Prayer is not for them alone. I Pray also for those who will believe in Me through their message,
21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as You are in Me and I am in You. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that You have sent Me.
22 I have given them the glory that You gave Me, that they may be one as We are One:
23 I in them and You in Me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that You sent Me and have loved them even as You have loved Me."
-- Ephesians 4:1-7, 11-13 =
1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.
2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
++ 3 Make every effort to keep the Unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
++ 4 There is One body and One Spirit -- just as you were called to One hope when you were called --
5 One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism;
6 One God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
7 But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it....
++ 11 It was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers,
12 to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up
++ 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
(14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.
15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Him who is the Head, that is, Christ.
16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. )
-- Philippians 2:1-5 =
++ 1 If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion,
++ 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.
3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.
4 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.
-- Romans 12:17-19 =
17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.
++ 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
19 Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: "It is Mine to avenge; I will repay," (Deut. 32:35) says the Lord.
-- Colossians 3:12-17 =
12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
++ 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
++ 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
++ 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.
17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
-- Psalms 86:1-13 =
1 Bow down Your ear, O LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.
2 Guard my life, for I am devoted to you. You are my God; save your servant who trusts in you!
3 Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I call to you all day long.
4 Rejoice the soul of Your servant, For to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
5 For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You.
6 Hear my Prayer, O LORD; listen to my cry for mercy.
7 In the day of my trouble I will call to you, for you will answer me.
8 Among the gods there is none like You, O Lord; Nor are there any works like Your works.
9 All nations whom You have made Shall come and worship before You, O Lord, And shall glorify Your name.
10 For You are great, and do wondrous things; You alone are God.
11 Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name.
12 I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And I will glorify Your name forevermore.
13 For great is Your love toward me, And You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.
-- Psalms 5:3 =
In the morning, O LORD, You hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before You and wait in expectation.
-- Psalms 34:4 =
I sought the LORD, and He answered me; /
He delivered me from all my fears.
-- Psalms 38:15 =
I wait for You, O LORD; You will answer, O Lord my God.
-- Psalms 118:5, 21 =
5 In my distress I Prayed to the LORD, and the LORD answered me and set me free. ++ 21 I will give You thanks, for You answered me; You have become my salvation.
-- Psalms 138:8 =
The LORD will fulfill His purpose for me; your love, O LORD, endures forever -- do not abandon the works of your hands.
-- Romans 8:28 =
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.
++ Life Application: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-25:
++ 1Th 5:16-18 =
Our joy, prayers, and thankfulness should not fluctuate with our circumstances or feelings. Obeying these three commands -- be joyful, keep on praying, and be thankful -- often goes against our natural inclinations. When we make a conscious decision to do what God says, however, we will begin to see people in a new perspective. When we do God's will, we will find it easier to be joyful and thankful. (Phl 4:4 )
++ 1Th 5:17 =
We cannot spend all our time on our knees, but it is possible to have a prayerful attitude at all times. This attitude is built upon acknowledging our dependence on God, realizing His presence within us, and determining to obey Him fully. Then we will find it natural to pray frequent, spontaneous, short prayers. A prayerful attitude is not a substitute for regular times of prayer but should be an outgrowth of those times. (Luke 18:1)
++ 1Th 5:18 =
Paul was not teaching that we should thank God for everything that happens to us, but in everything. Evil does not come from God, so we should not thank him for it. But when evil strikes, we can still be thankful for God's presence and for the good that He will accomplish through the distress. (Ep 5:20)
++ 1Th 5:19 =
By warning us not to "stifle the Holy Spirit," Paul means that we should not ignore or toss aside the gifts the Holy Spirit gives. In 1 Corinthians 14, he mentions spiritual prophesies and speaking in tongues. Sometimes spiritual gifts are controversial, and they may cause division in a church... We should not stifle the Holy Spirit's work in anyone's life but pray for guidance and solution to benefit the whole body of Christ. (Ep 4:30)
++ 1Th 5:20,21 =
We shouldn't make fun of those who are called to speak for God ("scoff at prophecies"), but we should always "test everything that is said," checking their words against the Bible. We are on dangerous ground if we scoff at a person who speaks the truth. Instead, we should carefully check out what people say, praying for wisdom and spiritual guidance, accepting what is true and rejecting what is false. (1Co 14:1,39; 1Jn 4:1)
++ 1Th 5:22-24 =
As Christians, we cannot avoid every kind of evil because we live in a sinful world. We can, however, make sure that we don't give evil a foothold by avoiding tempting situations and concentrating on obeying God. (Job 1:1,8; 1Co 1:9)
++ 1Th 5:23 =
The spirit, soul, and body refer not so much to the distinct parts of a person as to the entire being of a person. This expression is Paul's way of saying that God must be involved in every aspect of our life. It is wrong to think that we can separate our spiritual life from everything else, obeying God only in some ethereal sense or living for Him only one day each week. Christ must control all of us, not just a "religious" part.
