("How To Receive Christ")
-- Revelation 3:14
And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, "These things says The Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God."

The word ‘Amen’ solemnly confirms that which went before; and Jesus is the great Confirmer; immutable, for ever is ‘the Amen’ in all His promises. Sinner, I would comfort thee with this reflection. Jesus Christ said, ‘Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.’ (Mat.11:28). If you come to Him, He will say ‘Amen’ in your soul; His promise shall be true to you. He said in the days of His flesh, ‘The bruised reed I will not break.’ (Mat.12:20, Isa.42:3). Oh thou poor, broken, bruised heart, if thou comest to Him, He will say ‘Amen’ to thee, and that shall be true in thy soul as in hundreds of cases in bygone years. Christian, is not this very comforting to thee also, that there is not a word which has gone out of the Saviour’s lips which He has ever retracted? The words of Jesus shall stand when heaven and earth shall pass away (Mat.24:35). If thou gettest a hold of but half a promise, thou shalt find it true. Beware of who is called ‘Clip promise,’ who will destroy much of the comfort of God’s word.

Jesus is ‘Yes and Amen’ in all His offices. He was a priest to pardon and cleanse once, He is Amen as priest still. He was a king to rule and reign for His people, and to defend them with His mighty arm, He is an Amen king, the same still. He was a prophet of old, to foretell good things to come, His lips are most sweet, and drop with honey still -- He is an Amen prophet. He is Amen as to the merit of His blood; He is Amen as to His righteousness. That sacred robe shall remain most fair and glorious when nature shall decay. He is Amen in every single title which He bears; your Husband, never seeking a divorce; your Friend, sticking closer than a brother; your Shepherd, with you in death’s dark vale; your Help and your Deliverer; your Castle and your High Tower; the Horn of your Strength, your Confidence, your Joy, your All in all, and your ‘Yes and Amen’ in all.

-- Revelation 3:14 Notes:

+ "The words of The Amen." The word Amen means true, certain, faithful; and, as used here, it means that He to whom it is applied is eminently true and faithful. What He affirms is true; what He promises or warns is certain. Himself characterized by sincerity and truth. (2 Cor.1:20).

+ "The Faithful and True Witness." This is presenting the idea implied in the word Amen in a more complete form, but substantially the same thing is referred to. He is a witness for God and His truth, and He can approve of nothing which the God of truth would not approve. (Mat.28:18-20; John 1; Romans 5:1).

+ "The Amen... the Beginning of the creation of God." In the old creation, God (The Trinity) began by making the heavens and the earth -- the earth, the trees, the animals and ended with man. The New Creation has begun in reverse direction; it begins with a Man, the Son of the Father -- He is "the Beginning of the creation of God" -- and it will wind up with the New Heavens and the New Earth (Rev.21:1).

-- 2 Corinthians 1:20
For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through Him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God.

-- John 1:1-4
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In Him was life, and that life was the light of men.

-- Romans 5:1-2
1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

+ Bible Dictionary:

"Amen." This Hebrew word means firm, and hence also faithful (Revelation 3:14). In Isaiah 65:16, the Authorized Version has "the God of truth," which in Hebrew is "the God of Amen." It is frequently used by our Saviour to give emphasis to His words, where it is translated "verily." Sometimes, only, however, in John's Gospel, it is repeated, "Verily, verily." It is used as an epithet of the Lord Jesus Christ (Revelation 3:14).

It is found singly and sometimes doubly at the end of prayers (Psalm 41:13; 72:19; 89:52), to confirm the words and invoke the fulfilment of them. It is used in token of being bound by an oath (Numbers 5:22; Deuteronomy 27:15-26; Nehemiah 5:13; 8:6; 1 Chronicles 16:36). In the primitive churches it was common for the general audience to say "Amen" at the close of the prayer (1 Corinthians 14:16).

The promises of God are Amen; i.e., they are all true and sure (2 Corinthians 1:20).

+ Dictionary:

1. An expression used at the end of prayers, and meaning, "So be it." At the end of a creed, it is a solemn asseveration of belief. When it introduces a declaration, it is equivalent to "truly, verily."

2. To say Amen to; to sanction fully.

3. Amen, meaning "so be it", is of Hebrew origin. The word was imported into the Greek of the early Church from the Jewish synagogue. From Greek, Amen entered the other Western languages. According to a standard dictionary etymology, Amen passed from Greek into Late Latin, and thence into English.
COME, CHRISTIANS, JOIN TO SING

Come, Christians, join to sing
Alleluia! Amen!
Loud praise to Christ our King;
Alleluia! Amen!
Let all, with heart and voice,
Before His throne rejoice;
Praise is His gracious choice.
Alleluia! Amen!

Come, lift your hearts on high,
Alleluia! Amen!
Let praises fill the sky;
Alleluia! Amen!
He is our Guide and Friend;
To us He’ll condescend;
His love shall never end.
Alleluia! Amen!

Praise yet our Christ again,
Alleluia! Amen!
Life shall not end the strain;
Alleluia! Amen!
On heaven’s blissful shore,
His goodness we’ll adore,
Singing forevermore,
“Alleluia! Amen!”

Yes And Amen

Hear Your people saying yes,
Hear Your people saying yes to You.
Yes to anything You ask,
Yes to anything we´re called to do.

Hear your people say Amen,
Hear Your people say Amen to You.
Let Your kingdom come on earth,
Let it be just like we prayed to You.

Yes and Amen to everything that´s in Your heart,
Yes and Amen to everything that You have planned.
We live to see Your will be done,
And see Your perfect kingdom come on earth, on the earth.

Yes and Amen, we´re taking up our cross for You,
Give us the strength to take these dreams and follow through.
We live to see Your will be done,
And see Your perfect kingdom come on earth, on the earth.

All the promises are yes,
All the promises are yes in You.
Every good and perfect gift,
Every blessing that we have was You.
