Sep 27.97: Light For The Day - "Loneliness"

In his book `Facing Loneliness,', J. Oswald Sanders
writes, "The round of pleasure or the amassing of
wealth are but vain attempts to escape from the
persistent ache ... The millionaire is usually a lonely
man, and the comedian is often more unhappy than
his audience."

Deuteronomy 31:6 (RSV)
"Be strong and of good courage, ..... for it is the
LORD your God who goes with you; he will not
fail you or forsake you."

"Loneliness"

Loneliness is no respecter of persons. It invades
the palace as well as the hut. Many turn to drink,
drug and sex because of loneliness. Others lose
their sanity because of loneliness. Many commit
suicide because of the despair of loneliness.

Thousands have found Christ to be the answer for
their loneliness. The Hebrew children were not
alone when they were hurled into the fiery furnace
of persecution. There was One with them like unto
the Son of God. Moses wasn't alone in the Midian
Desert when God came to comfort him and call him
to a wider ministry. Elijah wasn't alone at the cave
when God came near and spoke with the still, small
voice. Paul and Silas were not alone in the
Philippian jail when God came down and gave them
a song at midnight.

Whoever you are, Christ can give you comfort and
companionship.
- Billy Graham

"Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great
and unsearchable things you do not known."
- Jeremiah 33:3 (NIV)

"Turn to me , LORD, and be merciful to me,
because I am lonely and weak." - Psalm 25:16 (TEV)

Prayer:
Whenever I begin to feel alone, help me remember
that You are always with me. Sometimes the way
seems dark but You are still there. Thank You, Lord.

No one ever discovers the depths of his own loneliness.
- Georges Bernanos

When so many are lonely as seem to be lonely,
it would be inexcusably selfish to be lonely alone.
