Oct 27.97: Light For The Day - "Marriage 2"
"For this reason a man will leave his father and
his mother and be united to his wife, and they
become one flesh." -- Genesis 2:24 (NIV)
"So they are no longer two, but one.
Therefore what God has joined together,
let man not separate." -- Matthew 19:6 (NIV)
-------------
"Marriage"
A man shall leave his father and his mother
and cleave unto his wife
And the two shall become one flesh for all
the rest of the days of their life.
They will walk side by side through life
without having any stress or strife
Because they never use harsh words
to each other that will cut like a knife.
A total blending of two individual lives is
truly what a marriage is.
It is no longer just a matter of what might be
her's or what is his
But Jesus Christ, the Saviour must be placed
in the center of all this
For without His being there it's all chance,
it's a game of hit or miss.
As you stand together before God and pledge
to each other your love
Ask God to always lead and guide you from
His heavenly throne above.
Later on in your life, when the blessings of
children begin to come along
Keeping Jesus at the center of a marriage is
what always keeps it strong.
As the two of you each assumes their proper
role within this new family,
With Christ in the middle, your marriage is sure
to be the best that it can be.
I don't mean there'll never be a crisis or hurdle
as you travel over life's sea
But remembering to always put Him first will
assure you of a total victory.
Then year after precious year as the wedding
anniversaries each fly by,
You can celebrate each and every one by lifting
praise to Jesus on high.
Having a Christ centered marriage is a wondrous
and a beautiful thing
As you look forward together daily to see what
love and joy it will bring.
The mixing and blending of your two separate
lives is now nearly complete.
As one flesh with Christ, you're now ready to
go out and face life's street.
With the exchange of your vows and the giving
and receiving of your rings,
With a few simple words spoken, you'll be ready
to face whatever life brings.
-- Beatrice (Bea) Filkins

it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude,
it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered,
it keeps no record of wrongs."

"Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving
one another, as God in Christ forgave you."

The best friend is likely to acquire the best wife
