Dec 18.98: Light For The Day - "Christmas Has Meaning"
"A child is born to us!
A Son is giving to us!
And He will be our ruler.
And his name will be called
"Wonderful Counselor,"
"Mighty God,"
"Everlasting Father,"
"Prince of Peace."
-- Isaiah 9:6

"Christmas Has Meaning"
It is a time for happiness,
a time for forgiveness,
a time for joy,
and a time for cheer.
It has a meaning all its own
and varies from person
to person every year.
Some people make it to mean
a time of remembrance
for the child Mary did bare.
Others for all the joy that is shared.
Children for the candy
and treats
and playing in snow
that lay near the streets.
Tidings, comfort,
warmth, fun,
joy, and laughter
you know it's begun.
'Tis the season of giving and sharing too.
One for all ages,
even those who seem too old
to have fun with you.
These are the memories
most commonly held dear,
for they show deliverance
to anyone who is near.
The happiest memory,
the happiest time of year
is the great and glorious morn
that comes just once a year.
Bound forever
by the beliefs of the young
and the old and even those
who can only be told.
-- Verucka

"Christmas"
O merry is the Christmas time
With holly berries bright,
With festal board and treasure stored
In stockings soft and white.
And blessed is the Christmas time
With music such as rang
A glorious strain o'er Bethlehem's plain
When angel voices sang.
O, joyful is the Christmas time,
Each heart from grief beguiled,
But all the year hath a Christmas cheer
For him that loves a child.
-- Lalia Mitchell
------------------------
"For God so loved the world that he gave his
only Son, that whoever believes in him
should not perish but have eternal life.
For God sent the Son into the world,
not to condemn the world, but that
the world might be saved through him."
-- John 3:16,17 (RSV)
