July 01.99: Light For The Day - "Thy Word"

"I Have hidden Your Word in my heart that
I may not sin against You. ....
Your word is a lamp to my feet and
a light for my path."

Dear God,

I hide many thoughts, many ideas, and many
dreams deep inside my heart.
But God, let me learn to hide Your Word in my
heart.

For if Your Word is there it will help me sift the
good from the evil. 

It will stop me from condoning things I do and say, 

and most important of all, it will pull me in
the direction I need to go toward You. 

Your Son, Christ, is the light of the world and
Your Word has the power to illuminate and
clarify which way the path of righteousness
leads. 

May this prayer not just be repetitious rabble,
but may I really learn Your Word and make it
my word.

When temptations come, Lord, and we both
know they will come, may my heart be so
garrisoned by Your word that I face them in
Your strength.

In the Name of Jesus Christ the Living Word
of God,
Amen.
