July 8.99: Light For The Day - "Honor & Popularity"

"If we are living now by the Holy Spirit's power, let us follow the Holy Spirit's leading in every part of our lives. Then we won't need to look for honors and popularity, which lead to jealousy and hard feelings."

Dear Father,

I know that I should let the Spirit of God be the
power in my life. Then it would be easy to
follow His leading.

But, Lord, when You say in every part of my
life, that takes in some pretty rough situations. 
And then again, You and I are the only two who
honestly know about these areas, therefore, my
inner failures are no real surprise to You.

In spite of knowing them, You still love me and
want to lead me. Sometimes I look for honors
and popularity, and sometimes my motivation
is wrong. Maybe that's what brings the jealousy
and hard feelings. 

But if I don't look for popularity and honor and
You give them to me because You choose to,
then people seem to accept it.

Help me to follow the Holy Spirit's leading -
not looking out of personal ambition but
accepting that which He gives to me. 

Thanks an awful lot for considering me
worthwhile enough to even bother to lead.
Really, God, You do amaze me!
