Oct 13.99: Light For The Day - "Love, Irresistible, Immovable"

" In this is love, not that we loved God but that
he loved us and sent his Son to be the expiation
for our sins.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to
love one another.
No man has ever seen God;
if we love one another,
God abides in us and his love is perfected in us."
-- 1John 4:10-12 (RSV)

"Love, Irresistible, Immovable"

I'd heard it said that love never fails
And I wondered why
I came to know that God is love
He never fails
But why
I know that Jesus walked in love
He never fails
But why

Jesus told a parable about two men
one built his house on a rock the other on sand
the flood came and the house on sand fell
the house on the rock stood it didn't fail
Why

And as I pondered this I also realized that
everyone who saw Jesus
I mean really looked at Him, not themselves
they where moved by Him and He delivered them
Why

Why, because love is both the immovable object
And the irresistible force
Love Never Fails because
it can not be moved
it can not be resisted
it can not be overcome
and it overcomes all

I know that it is by God's grace that we receive
all things
So I thought in my heart God is love, can He not
be moved?
And I wondered, what moves a Father's heart

I know that Jesus was moved by compassion
I know that the Father rejoices in doing good for us
I know that David was a man after God's own heart
What moved Jesus, What moved the Father

David delighted in the Lord
He respected Him, and believed Him
He praised Him and worshipped Him
He always sought Him out

And then suddenly like a fresh wind I knew
Only one thing can move God
Love, the immovable object is moved only by
Love, the irresistible force

That is why the first commandment is
Hear O Israel, Love God with ALL your Heart
Do this and God will be moved

"By this we know that we love the children of God,
when we love God and obey his commandments.
For this is the love of God, that we keep his
commandments. And his commandments are not
burdensome."
